I successfully sued this company in Nassau County Small Claims Court in July 2009. As it turned out they lied when they sold me my unit that it was a Lennox unit. Because the HVAC is a rooftop unit, I had no way of knowing until the unit died and they played games about coming to fix it. The reputable contractor that I did manage to find to fix the unit was the one who revealed the information.
Then I remembered how Slomins gave me such a hard time about filing for my Energy Star rebate and they refused to complete the paperwork without explanation. I got tired of fighting with them at the time and dropped it. But after this discovery, I got in touch with LIPA who send me documentation that SLOMINS GAVE THEM, which proved that I had a Concord unit and not a Lennox as stated in my contract.
I took all my documentation to court. They showed up with their lawyer and 3 repairmen who had never been to my home and LOST. I wasn't awarded the amount that I initially sued for but was satisfied with the verdict nonetheless. I hope they learned their lesson from it and stop lying to customers, misrepresenting products they sell and ripping people off!

To follow up from my last comment. I sat with no heat for 5 days because of Slomins. I paid them $183.00 to come to my home on 11/14. After wasting an entire day and winding up taking an emergency day off work, a technician who had a ladder finally showed up at my house at 2 pm and informed me that the PC Board on my less than 2 year old unit needed to be replaced. The tech informed me that the part was still covered under the manufacturer's warranty which is 5 years. I have a copy of the warranty stating the same. The technician also stated that he phoned in the part order and that someone should be back on Monday, 11/17 to install the part. Monday came, no one showed up and Slomins ignored my calls the entire day. Meanwhile, it was below 30 degrees outside and I still had no heat since Thursday evening. I kept calling and demanded to speak with a manager. Finally, I spoke with Ed Lane, who came on the line and told me that I needed to pay an additional $450.00 AND BUY the PC Board, because it was not covered under warranty. I informed him I had a copy of the warranty in front of me. I even e-mailed him and called the manufacturer to inform them what Mr. Lane said and was advised by the folks at Lennox not to give Slomin's a penny more because the part was covered. I called back and reported this information and Mr. Lane refused to honor the warranty and still claimed it was going to cost me an additional $450 to get my unit working, plus, I would have to order the part myself from the manufacturer. Realizing that I was being price gouged (because no way was it an additional $450 extra to install a part, when the initial serivce call was only $183.00), I called another company who came out immediately. They charged me $203 for the service call and verified the PC board needed to be replaced. They ordered the part free of charge under the warranty and returned the day after and installed it AT NO EXTRA CHARGE. I was told that my $203 included their return trip to install the part. Slomins figured that since it was cold outside, they could quote whatever price and tell me whatever and I would simply give in, in order to have my heat restored. I filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office, as well as Consumer Affairs. Also, I found out a rep is scheduled to speak at my neighborhood's Civic Association Meeting to get people to buy Security Systems and home heating products. Guess who already informed the President, who invited them about my issues? I have told EVERYONE about this nightmare and have encouraged them NOT to utilize ANY of Slomins' services.
