EDitor's Comment: Rip-off Report Investigation:

Rip-off Report Investigation is complete: We note that with over 35 million registered members, there are only a mere 15 Rip-off Reports filed on the Company, which is an outstanding record. We commend the Company for asking us to look into these Reports with a sincere effort by the Company to satisfy any customer that might have fallen through the cracks. Not too sure what the problem could be with a money back guarantee?! With 35 million customers, and hundreds of customer service people working at the Company, we would think they would have a lot more complaints, but they don't. We all know how customer service people can be, remember they are human too :-) .

Investigation shows many of the comments made about the Company are ludicrous and were more than likely posted by competitors and should not be taken seriously. ALL BUSINESSES WILL GET COMPLAINTS, BUT HOW THOSE BUSINESSES HANDLE THOSE COMPLAINTS SEPARATES GOOD BUSINESS FROM BAD BUSINESS. As a matter of policy, when Rip-off Report is retained by a business to investigate independently and to publish our findings, we use every bit of information at our disposal to determine the truthfulness of the complaints against the company or individual... there are no guarantees as to the final outcome. Our final investigation shows that the company has demonstrated excellent customer satisfaction and has reasonably addressed all outstanding complaints. Anyone may contact me [email protected] with any questions or information. ..Also, the company has set up a special email address for those who may have a special refund request (although the regular refund procedures seem to be exemplary). The address is: [email protected]

The Invitation Process of SMS.ac is a convenience. The ability to quickly import the contacts in your Address Book and communicate with your friends and family is a function that came about as a result of requests by SMS.ac members. Once the address book is imported, the registrant and others can take advantage of limited free text [sms] messaging. It's imperative to read the screens prior to importing your address book, as some registering users [as here] haven't done so, resulting in confusion. SMS.ac makes it crystal clear that we will facilitate your sending of the invitations upon registration and that the registrant may choose to invite all, some or none of the contacts in their address book. People registering on SMS.ac do not need to import their address books at time of registration and may choose to do so at a later time. The SMS.ac community makes it easy and fun for millions of people around the world to easily find and communicate with each otheron their mobile phones, or from the Web!

NOW TO THE ORIGIONAL REPORT THAT WAS FILED

=====================

Sms.ac is a real rip-off. DON'T TRUST IT!! If you have signed up for it ever, paying or not paying for it, cancel it NOW!! What they do is get you information for your friend from a friends list that you have. They then e-mail people that are on the friends list and make it appear that you are sending the e-mail wanting them to join this SMS.AC garbage.

I had one come to me and I signed up for it. I was not paying for it (THANK GOODNESS). I did not totally finish filling out the information because it was just to long and they wanted to much form you and I did not in any way, shape, or form give them any of my friends e-mail info. Next thing I know I went on to check my other e-mail account I have and my husband's e-mail account and there were e-mails saying my name at invitation.sms.ac wants you to join!!

I know that I did not send it, they did claiming I did. Then if you do not respond, it begins a ton of snotty e-mails saying you need to respond, you have not responded yet, still waiting for a response and these e-mails come all the time.

I finally e-mailed them and told them to stop sending e-mails to my friends and to me and that I know that they went into my account to get my friends e-mail addresses. From what I understand, they do this a lot when you are signing up, they get a list of e-mail addresses from your account like a yahoo account, hotmail, ect and I know this because it has happened to a few people I know that never filled in any friends info. when asked to do so.

Anyway, a bunch of us are reporting them to the Better Business Bureau because of all this and I suggest that if anyone else has a complaint you do the same also. Maybe they will get found out about all the illegal activity they conduct if enough people tell someone.

STOP! ..before you think about using the Better Business Bureau (BBB)... CLICK HERE to see how other consumers were victimized by the BBB's false or misleading information. Don't be fooled! It has been reported, when there are thousands of complaints and other investigations underway by authorities, the BBB has no choice but to finally give an UNsatisfactory rating to a BBB member business that is paying the BBB big membership fees every year. When a business is reported that is NOT a BBB member, BBB files WILL more likely show an UNsatisfactory rating, then reportedly shake down that company to become a member of the BBB. One positive thing about the BBB is, either way, if a business has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB, you can be sure, the business is bad. But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public? Is this a false and misleading perception they are giving about consumer confidence when dealing with a business? Click here to understand more of what consumers and business alike are saying about the BBB. You decide. ..Remember. The BBB membership is not earned, it's paid for!
