I was hired as a sub contractor for a job. It was a bathroom/basement/laundry room renovation. It took 3 weeks to complete. Now normally, I like 50% upfront from customers or something negotiated. I didn't bother this time, as I did one job prior for this guy and I was paid fully.
Perhaps part of his scam, get you in do a job pay you then ask you to do a bigger job and then screw you over.
Anyhow, I fulfilled my job requirements and did a good job. Those words came out of his mouth. I'm not a sloppy contractor and I take pride in my work. So work was completed and he did pay me partially along the way, but at the end of the job, there was 2,000 owing to me still as I put my own money into this job for materials, almost 1,000.
At this point, the money is still owed to me and it's been 2 months now. His excuse was that he lost money on the last few jobs. Perhaps he's in the wrong business as I have yet to lose money on a renovation job.
Just be aware that this guy is a fraud and thief. If you stumble across him while looking for a contractor or he contacts you for a sub contractor run the other way.
Hopefully, this will help others in NOT getting scammed by this guy.
