I received a letter in the mail from STERLING HEARING offering me a free hearing evaluation. I went to my appointment in their Port Huron office, someone by the name Craig did my evaluation and told me that I may have serious hearing problem that may need surgery. Then he wanted me to go back for more tests. I was nervous for a few days until my second appointment. He did more tests and told me I did not need surgery and I had to buy a pair of hearing aids from him. They cost about $4,000. I told him I wanted to go home and think about it and discuss with my daughter. For about 40 minutes he tried to convince me that I needed the hearing aids and would not let me leave his office. He tried different ways to scare me that if I did not buy the hearing aids I may loose my hearing very quickly. When I was sitting in the waiting room for the second appointment a man who said was from the Sherrif office arrived and asked for Craig and gave him an envelope. So I was suspecious, managed to leave the office without committing. I went to a ear doctor, he checked my ears, and cleaned the wax and I was fine, I DID NOT NEED HEARING AIDS!!! These people were not honest and almost ripped me off. I decided to post a complaint on RIPPOFF REPORT so hopefully more people don't get cheated by STERLING HEARING CARE.
