My father and I received advertising in the mail telling us that we were a sweepstakes consolation prize winner. We were offered several 'consolation' prizes by discounting regular retail prices on several items such as luggage, software, stereo, etc.
One such prize caught our eye and we decided to purchase it; a stereo CD with surround sound. We sent the check in on November 11th, 2002 and it was cashed 10 days later. We have not received our stereo nor any notification of them cashing our check for $179.95 or that the stereo will be delivered on such and such date.
We tried to reach the number that was listed by Sweepstakes Clearinghouse in a previous rebuttal to another consumer fraud report, to no avail. There is never any answer what-so-ever.
We do not know where to turn to get satisafaction on this matter and we hope that this would be a good place to start.
