Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I worked for Targets' distribution center in Wilton, NY. With my experience in shipping/warehousing, I had a great deal of info for all the people who had never performed this kind of work and was asked a lot of questions, even by my supervisor. We'll call him MR.S.

About 1 year into the job, I was going through a nasty divorce. Went through bankrupcy, foreclosure on my house, reposession of my car, and false child abuse charges set up by my ex and her two kids! This tends to bring a person down some!!!

Well, because I wasn't a happy cheery Target person every day, MR.S decided to give me a written warning for my attitude. He did this knowing what I was going through. I kept him updated all along 'cause I felt guilty coming to work depressed.

About a month after this write-up, one of our security guards was sleeping on the job all the time, causing more work for us dipatchers. After waking him up on three different occasions, I reported him to his supervisor. He then decided to tell his supervisor that I was intimidating him. MR.S jumped right up and wrote me up again for intimidating the guard. Write-up number two.

One month later it was proven and seen by others that the guard was intentionally trying to get me in trouble(payback) and was removed from the Wilton facility. I then went to MR.S to get the write-up taken away, being that it was under false pretenses, and he denied it saying he believed the guard.

The third write-up was for attendance. Going through the divorce and all else my ulcers were attacking my body so I missed some days. I lived in the mountains so the snow made me late a couple of days. And i punched in 1 min late from lunch a couple of times. OK, I'll accept this one but it put me on final warning.

I was preparing to move to the state of Washington and it just so happened that another DC was being built in the city I was moving to. MR.S made it clear because I was on final warning, there was nothing he could do for me to transfer. I also received no raise on my annual evaluation because of this. I went to the general manager and explained the write-ups to see if he could help. His responce; "after talking to MR.S, the request is denied." DUH! I then gave a three week notice. This was Nov. 2002.

I set up a meeting with HR for one last ditch effort to get a transfer and was promptly escorted off the facility with two weeks left to work! Oh, they did pay me for the two weeks. This tends to deface a persons name and character.

In July 2003 I went back to NY for a visit. I visited the Dispatch office to see some friends I haven't seen.(truck drivers) When MR.S found out I was there visiting, he and security got together and I'm now PERMANANTLY BANNED from the Wilton facility!! More defacing name and character.

Jan 2004 a position came up at the DC in WA, and I applied for it. I faxed my resume, as requested, clearly showing my Target work experience. I also called and left a message for the HR director, who worked at the Wilton DC and knew who I was. I saw him at the job fair when the DC was doing their initial hiring. The position I applied for was tied directly with my previous job at Target. I did not receive an interview, no call back from the HR director, and it's been over a month. Blacklisted??

I could go on with more, but I think you get the point. Target is a great place to work for as far as pay and benefits, but the supervisors do not like to be proven wrong and if they want you gone, no matter what your personal life is like, they will find a way to X you.

no company I can think of that will allow its associates the privilege of transfering to another location unless they are of stellar performance rating

The bottom line is, Target has no invested interest in your personal and/or family problems. They hired you to do a job. It appears that you had many problems performing your job due to the areas you cited in your report (ie., bad attitude, ulcers and other health issues, snowy roads, multiple foreclosures, abuse allegations, etc.). And reporting other associates to management when you yourself have a lot of improvement to do? While it is unfortunate to have so many personal problems, Target still hired you to perform a job, and you have failed to perform well. There is no company I can think of that will allow its associates the privilege of transfering to another location unless they are of stellar performance rating. It is crazy for you to think you have been "blacklisted" by Target. You voluntarily provided your work history, they checked it, and deem that you are not the employee they are looking for. End of story. May I suggest that you learn to separate work from life, so that you may succeed in your job and have one less thing to worry about.
