I was telemarkrted and asked if I had a tax problem. The first person who called me asked some very basic questions like how much did I owe the IRS and if I had a job. He then said that I qualified for a reduction of my $70,000.00 tax debt. He then transfered me to a company called Tax Group Center. I was told I would be speaking with Jennifer Shapiro, but a man named Joe Garcia was on the line with me. He siad he was Jennifer's assistant. He then started to ask me question about my tax debt and my income and a few expenses. I had been ripped off before by another company when attempting to resolve my tax debt. So I have done some extensive research about the IRS tax relief programs specifically the Offer In Compromise. Simply put, the tax payer has to have a low asset value and prove that all of their income is spent on allowable expenses. Joe asked me what my income is and I explained $55,000.00. I am single. He asked me if I rent and I said yes and that I pay 600.00 a month. The only other expense he asked me about was if I had a car payment, I said yes and it is $317.00. He went on and then said that he could do an Offer In Compromise for me. He asked me how much I would like to pay in a settlement. I said How about $2,000.00. Joe said SUPER! I then asked Joe if I could ask him some questions, he said okay. I asked him why he did not ask me if I owned any real estate, any stocks, bomds, or retirement accounts? I asked him why he did not ask me when my car payment expires? You see, the IRS looks at assets as well as what is called Retired Debt. Since my car payment is expiring in a couple of months thet IRS would calculate the amount of the car payment by 48 or 60 and factor that into the Offer In Compromise. But also there is no way that Joe could have been able to show that I spend all of my income on allowable expenses. I net about $3400.00 a month and my allowable expenses are about $2078.00. My rent is $600.00 utilities about $300.00 car payment 317.00 Transpotation allowance a standard number the IRS provides $236.00, Food Household expenses another standard number the IRS provides $565.00 and $60.00 for misc Medical expenses. I called Joe on all of this and he started at me with the barrage of verble insults calling me an a*****e and a loser. I terminated the call only to have him call me back with more verble attacks and profanity! By the way I asked Joe 3 times in the call if they were a law firm? He said YES each time I asked himhe would say " we have CPA's and Attorneys" I would then say are you a law firm and Joe each time said YES!I called back and asked to speak to a supervisor. Jennifer Shapiro took the call and I explained what had transpired during the HORRIBLE CALL WITH Joe Garcia 877-605-7635 x 204 and she appologized. I was told that there are 2 sides to every story. Gee nice response Jennifer! I swear I am going to report this fraudulent company to every agency that I can as well I will be submitting a formal complaint to the Attorney General. I encourage any of you other victims of this company to do the same. They must be stopped. Praying on innconet victims who are desparate for tax help is unexceptable! By the way Joe wanted to charge me $6,250.00. GOOD LORD THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY! SO BEWARE OF THESE PREDITORS! WATCH OUT FOR THE TAX GROUP CENTER. I KNOW FOR A FACT SIMPLY FROM THIS ONE CALL THAT THEY ARE BREAKING MANY LAWS AND MUST BE STOPPED!
