On 8/6/2012, a Monday around 1PM, I deposited a check through the ATM.  Thinking that I was allowed a portion of the monies (50%) I went to a supermarket.  I spent less than 20% of the money.  I also had a small amount of cash from the week before.  I had 3 transactions the had been claimed and saw this in my online listing of transactions.  I still had $3.00 left.  On 8/08/2012 75% of the deposited check had been taken in fees.  I called to ask why.  I was told that I had overdrawn my account.  The check I deposited on 8/6/12 had not cleaned until 8/8/12 and that every transaction they had posted from 08/06/12 was over my limit.  What TCF said was that funds were not available to me at all until they receive their money from the other bank.  TCF then decided they would take the last transaction on 8/6/12 as the first received before the check cleared draining my account so that any transaction from the weekend (08/03, 08/04, and 8/05) were taken later and also considered as overdrafts.  They use the excuse that these items were all "pending".  This is theft in my book.  Had they charged me for the check that was written after I deposited the check that they did not recognize until they received their money from the other bank I would not be writing this complaint.  The money for the three transactions was there until they did what they did.  The money was cash.

Also know that this institution changes their rules like most people change their underwear.  Example - when I signed up for their account I was told that I only needed to do 10 transactions a month.  Two weeks later the changed it to 15.  They're so selfish that when a struggling  homeowner needed to do a short sale to avoid foreclosure they would not help.  The family had to file bankruptcy.  This is not a pro-customer institution - and if this is what we call American support they are definitely Un-American.
