Telecheck, TRS Recovery Telecheck is a scam - charging me for a check that cleared my bank! Houston Texas
Telecheck is a scam. They're trying to charge me $35 for a check that cleared my bank.
I saw a charge appear on my bank account for $35.00. I immediately called to question it and the representative I spoke with took 20 minutes just to figure out who the charge was from. Since it was an electronic debit, there was no check to view and the description for the charge simply said TRS DFT SVC. No phone number, no physical address, nothing. I did a quick search of the web and found TRS = Telecheck. So I started hunting for a phone number to contact them. The 800 number on their site leads only to dead ends - don't bother using it. The toll number to their headquarters - 713-567-0499 - says that it has been disconnected or is no longer in service.
Thankfully I found a direct number here on the Rip Off Report that goes to customer service. It is 1-800-697-9258. USE THIS NUMBER ONLY when trying to contact these crooks. The first time I called, the rep who answered pretended she couldn't hear me and hung up. Her name was 'Ashley' (sp?). The second time I called, I talked to 'Judy' who pleasantly informed me that although the check cleared the bank, they were charging me a $35 fee. I advised I will be disputing the charge with my bank. She said "Thank you for calling Telecheck." and hung up.
