Complaint Review: Teresa Haro - Oregon

I start with a quotation because this fits the situation:

Yes, my journey with Devon's and breeders started off rocky. It was difficult at first to get cats for breeding - I was warned by many not to start a cattery. They didn't give the specifics, but now I know why. There can be much negativity and drama.

I want those who read about me to know the truth. The most important thing is, I have never traveled with cats closed in my trunk. Those two sweet girls had the freedom to move around my car at any time. Since one of them was pregnant I wanted to make sure she wasn't stressed by the ride at all so I set up a carrier in the back where it was dark. The back seats were down the entire trip and they were able to roam between the front and back as they wanted.

You hear a lot about Eve and how she was free. Nothing is free. She came with restrictions, which I have honored. I have only sold my kittens as pets - no kittens have ever been sold as breeders.

Breeder quality would mean they are free of defects, which can't be said of Eve's kittens. I didn't find that out until her second litter, which was an accidental breeding. (If you ask breeders, some will tell you they had an accidental breeding. It happens. I know of a breeder who had all five of her queens pregnant at once and I know it was an accident. Things happen and we make sure they don't happen again.) With that being said, Eve has been spayed so as not to produce any more kittens with defects (of which people were fully aware of when they bought the kittens).

If you read between the lines, you will see that this person isn't happy that I didn't side with her. Nothing negative was ever said to/about me until the day she didn't get what she wanted. Then she decided to attack me, first privately, then publicly.

I'm an honest person and if you want the truth, contact me. I will gladly talk to anyone about the things that were written about me.

Well I Have a business LLC because If you didn't know that's the way that you're supposed to run things LEGALLY.

As a registered business, with a licsense, and a registered cattery in the City in which I live also registered, and fully checked out and have people come out and look at my home, the way I handle my cats, and the way I breed and the way that I run my household.

I have the Local animal control come out as per law and inspect every inch of my home.  Only once is required, I invited them over multiple times a year just because I like to show them the new things that are going on if we are in process of a re-model making an outside run so the cats can join me outside during the summer.

As for the "verbally abusive" I did not start this mud slinging Teresa did by taking it upon herself to personally  message people on my friends list on facebook and saying that if they are friends with me that she can not be associated with them.  ETC.

Where she had her daughter post on her behalf, because she is throwing a temper tantrum because I refuse to allow her to continue to try to make a profit off of kittens that she got out of a cat that was given to her for free.

You are insanely misinformed about Teresa, her woah as me stuff had me fooled for a while as well.

 Until she showed up with 2 of my adult cats one who was pregnant in the TRUNK of her car. At least a 7 hour drive, stuffed in the back of a small car with nothing but a litter box.  Things went down hill rather fast at that point.  I was still willing to try to help her and 2 other breeder "friends" get back up and going as well.

Yes I have an LLC, Yes I am fully registered.  Does that make me a bad person? or bad breeder No, just the opposite.  I do things Legally and the way that you do that is by having an LLC and paying Taxes on sells, and reporting in all births.  

Teresa on the other hand,  back to back breed Eve to cover the cost of her new breeding"stock"  she still had younglings on the ground when she bred her again and then bragged about having 12 more kittens to sell.  

I have all of the paperwork, and email exchanges with Teresa to prove every single point that I have said here. 

Yes I am more than aware of the disagreements and on goings of breeders who do not like each other.  That hush hush talk about each other behind the back of the other.  Which lead to cause some of this issue.  Another breeder had an issue with me however my "breeder friends" Teresa included didn't inform me of this until my husband stepped in and asked her bluntly the right questions.  Me personally,  I'd rather be open honest, upfront and cut through the whole BS.  

Educate other breeders on how this breeder handles herself, her cats, and her cattery.  People can make up their own minds if they wish to work with Teresa or not.  Same with any breeder.  

However I've seen and heard all too many times of people getting kittens from breeders with  X  Y Z issues that could have been all avoided if other breeders communicated honestly and open about exchanges.

If you sit back and do nothing about something you know is wrong, then you are NO better than that person. Teresa is in no way shape or form my competitiion.

I spent plenty of time discussing things with judges myself at a few shows, so I'd really think that If you are a judge you'd not hide behind anomity.  I would be more than willing to openly discuss anything you'd like.  If you'd like proof More than  happy on that side as well.

But, please find something better to do than to do a search on me, find that I own a business with an LLC and try to twist that into something evil when it's the RIGHT and LEGAL way to do things.

FYI the "sick Kitten" that you seem to bring up, that individiual is currently under full investigation for illegally submiting forms as someone else.  Falsly accusing not on my myself but another breeder due to their own actions leading up to the death of one of my kittens.  Which if you'd read the entire file, you'd realize that I have videos, pictures and even a health certificate issued that day on that kitten that prove beyond any doubt that she was in perfect health when she left.

I breed 1-2 times a year, with out any cages, in my own home raised by my family.  I far from breed for a profit. 

Ask yourself this does a breeder who breeds for profit spend PER kitten nearly 700 dollars alone before they leave my hands?  Left over funds go right back into litter, food, etc for the adults.  (that's not including health certificates, crates, beds, travel expenses etc that I do NOT charge  my clients for)

I spay/neuter, 2 sets of shots including leukemia, drontal twice, fecal sample is done before they leave as well as food, vitamins that I give them here and the moms get pre-natal check ups, and kittens are seen a number of times just for wellness check ups.

Feed extremely high quality food, and use nothing but 100% natural litters with 10 litter boxes so there is room for all and no competition for potty room.

So before YOU get up on your soap box and attempt to talk trash about me, please educate yourself on the way I do things here.  I do not fit in the normal "breeder" Mold.  I'm fine with that.  I did not start breeding to make friends.  

However I've bent backwards more than once for Teresa, answered late night destress calls, e mails about what she should do etc.   She tossed me aside when another breeder had a kitten that she wanted, and said breeder had an issue with me.  Even though Said breeder has her fair share of own issues that she's going through.

I breed because I love the breed, Devons bring joy to my life and I fully feel that anyone who is allergic to cats should have the oppertunity to be around a devon.  I spend countless hours doing Allergy test, some for even other breeders, because I want to make sure that kitten and cat matches are forever. 

Now that I have the Personality type in devons that i feel has been missing, I can start working towards other area's that I personally want to work on in my cattery.   If you keep a cat caged and only used for their sexual functions a great deal of personality is lost in translation. 

I have been breeding, showing and judging Devon Rex cats for almost 30 years. In all that time I've never run across such a verbally abusive person as Melissa MacPherson - Bat Cave Cattery, who wrote this ugly report on Happy Tales Cattery. Melissa is a beginner breeder who has a Ripoff Report on her own cattery that states she mass produces kittens, and sick kittens, so much so that she has a Washington State business license:

I have met Teresa at cat shows and only have good things to say about her and how she takes care of her cats. Please anyone who may read Melissa's report, take it with a grain of salt. In fact, ask Teresa straight forward.

I have known a lot of breeders in my day and not all of them get along. In fact some really don't like others at all...but with class they just avoid each other and go on about their own breeding/showing programs. Remember, we are all in this to improve and maintain the Devon Rex breed, not to worry about what your competition is doing or how much money they are making.
