Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Bought a used car from Thrifty, and traded in old car for new one.

First they completely ripped me off on my trade in. All dealers do so no big deal got over it. Then they messed up my loan payment date. But again fine got over it.

They then apparently sent the loan to a ton of different places, the first place I knew of we rejected because it was a completely crap loan, the second we agreed to, still to this date we are getting letters and rejections in the mail from (not counting the 2 mentioned before) so far 4 places about a car loan we already have. So because they just apparently sent it out to ?? different places I have ?? people now checking my credit ruining it because the deal is retarded.

Found out 2 weeks later that the loan on my trade in was never paid off. I never once received a phone call from them. They had all my information, account numbers, bank phone number, lender everything before we left the day we purchased the car. When I called them to find out why they didn't pay off my car paperwork mysteriously went missing for day, then they found it, and said they didn't have the account number. But finally got it paid off.

A week after we bought the new car (before we learned the loan wasn't paid off) went back to the dealership to give them the gas cap key to old car, they just sold it and I forgot to give when traded in. So they sold my old car to someone when title was never cleared. Talked to the salesman ask when license plate was going to be in he said these exact words the tag will be in, in 4-6 weeks I will give you a call when it gets here.

One month goes by; husband gets pulled over because temp. tag expired. Gets ticket. Call dealership asking if tag is in, the man says yes it's been here for a few days. I say did anyone plan on telling me? he says eventually. EVENUTALLY?!? Had I known I needed to call and stay on them about the tag I would have, I was told it would be 4-6 weeks, still in the time frame thinking nothing too much of no phone call, yet tags been in for a few days and the temp tag is expired and no one bother to pick up the phone to call.

I guess after everything else I should have known this would go wrong too but never having bought a car in TN and ever other car bought in home state dealer always called when plate was in so the thought of having to call them never crossed my mind.

In process of trying to get dealer to pay ticket because of the grief they caused because of their negligence they need to be held responsible. It's a cheap ticket and isn't suppose to effect insurance but that's not the point it's the principle of the fact that if they just picked up the phone like they are suppose it would have been prevented.

After many lame lies and trying all they can to blame this on us, we were told that the owner was out today and we have to talk to him tomorrow but when they spoke with him a little before he said he wouldn't pay it. I will be in his office everyday until this gets paid. They need to be held responsible.

There has been nothing but headaches with this dealership, rude behavior, lies, just plane jerks even when I called in trying to fix their screw ups, do not but from these guys! Its not worth it at all!

Thank you Dan for replying to a report that is from a different dealer and different state.

And out of all of that, that is really what you got from it???? 1) the point was about the absolute disrespect from the salesman, manager, and owner even. The lack of any sort of apology or care or anything. 2) if it were really bad credit and lack of loan final approval and blah blah blah causing delays in title.... why were they selling a car (my trade in) that they didn't own, have paperwork on, even started getting the paperwork on?!? And if my loan had not gone through if it wasn't finalized even though all the paperwork was signed and we drove off, we would been due back our car we traded in. How were they going to do that when they already sold a car they didn't own???Sounds pretty illegal don't you think Dan?

Anyways Dan again the point was how disrespectful and unorganized they were there. Had they handled it with respect, taken at least some responsibility, apologized, not passed the buck and played avoidance, or heck had they lied and said "I'm sorry we will reprimand that employee" the problem would have gone away, it would not have been escalated to the level it was, and I would have dropped it right there. Piece of advise for your future business Dan. And probably best you stick to situations you know what your talking about.

So it has been a few weeks trying to deal with the dealer to get them to pay the ticket. I finally agreed to them paying half the ticket since I told them I would accept responsibility for not knowing when the temp tag expired. However I had to fight them tooth and nail to get them to pay just half. I told them I would not go away. After about 2 weeks of dealing with the manager and my sales men, I finally got the owner Jewels Oats on the phone. He knew who I was and what I wanted so he picked up the phone and started laughing for 2 mins. When he finally asked me what I wanted I was trying to explain the situation politely and talk to him about it, but he kept talking over me not letting me talk. He told me that I wasn't listening so I said fine talk. He kept telling me it was all my fault not at all their fault in anyway, he was about to hang up on me and I yelled, "listen here C***sucker", and he said "no that's you and your sister" and hung up on me. I called back the man who answered the phone said that Jewels was in a meeting I said that he was not in a meeting I just spoke to him, then he said he was not able to transfer calls that I had to call back and they can transfer me to him, I said no tell him to come to the phone, he asked what I wanted, I said that he knew what I wanted, I heard Jewels tell the man that he was not going to talk to anyone anymore today and to take a message, I said tell the f***** to grow some balls and get on the phone and he hung up on me again. After 6 more phone calls to the manager Bob who is the only one they would put on the phone with me, they kept trying to tell me that it was 100% my fault even though they had the tag for a long time and never called because apparently it's ok for them to "get busy and forget" but not for me to get busy and forget to check my tag. I told them I am willing to take half the responsibility but they are also responsible for half. That if for no other reason it is good business to make a happy customer. I said I'm just asking for $27 it's not that much money, if you don't eat McDonalds for a day you'll be fine, I just want my money and I will go away. He told me they will not pay on principle and I said I will not go away on principle. Bob did end up getting and ear full from me, due to the disrespect the owner gave me. Poor Bob did get the brunt since Jewels couldn't act like a professional and talk to me. I yelled I cussed by the end of it, but for god sakes I was just asking for $27 not a kidney, and they wouldn't take any responsibility or be respectful. If they had even apologized and been nice I wouldn't have been so pissed. Finally took a call to the corporate office, which told me what I expected to hear, was that the Nashville dealership is a franchise not a corporate location so he can't make them pay me but he will talk to Jewels and see what he can get for me. He was so very professional and polite and knowledgeable that if he told me no there's nothing I can do, I think I would have let it go. He listened, and was polite and apologetic that was all I was looking for in the first place. But he got them to pay half the ticket. My husband went down there today to pick it up. The owner came up to him in the parking lot apologizing for everything saying that it was totally my fault that they wouldn't pay, because of the way I acted and conducted business. He told the owner that he wasn't going to sit there and defend my actions I had ever right to talk to them and handle business anyway I wanted to, and that his excuses about not paying because of me was a complete lie since he was the one who talked to them about it first asking them to pay and they told him NO the first day, and he was completely professional to them the whole time. The owner looked shocked, and brushed if off, and that was pretty much the end of that. However I get a call today from the title manager saying they are having trouble getting the title to my trade in they sold over a month ago!!!! So to the person who bought the 2002 gold grand am at Thrifty Car sales of Nashville, you're probably going to be waiting a month or so longer to get your tags and title so make sure you keep on them about the temp tag!!!
