Check the California Bar Records - this lawyer is no longer practicing as of July 2008!! Contact the Bar to find out how to file a complaint and move quickly. Good luck and I hope you get your money back.

I hope you saved all of the copies of the correspondence you had with him. Next, you need to call the insurance company that made the settlement with you AND TELL THEM WHAT HAPPENED! You call him and tell him that if you don't get your money within 24 hours that he is going to be very sorry. Note the time and date of the call AND THEN, YOU DO THE FOLLOWING IF HE DOES NOT GIVE YOU YOUR MONEY: Then you need to get all of the correspondence and make copies of it and call your local law enforcement agency and tell them what happened. You might have to file your compaint with the DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE yourself. HE STOLE $50,000 from you! He is entitled to the amount he agreed upon to represent with you after you settled AND NO MORE! CONTACT THE BAR ASSOCIATION OF THE STATE IN WHICH HE IS LICENSED AS AN ATTORNEY AND TELL THEM WHAT HE DID TO YOU. ASK THEM FOR AN INVESTIGATION. I think this should cover most of the bases. And NEVER,EVER let sign a check in an attorney's office. YOU SIGN THAT CHECK IN THE BANK WITH HIM AND THAT WAY YOU BOTH GET YOUR MONEY! Attorneys today can NOT be trusted to do a good job or even an honest job for you ASSUMING YOU CAN EVEN GET ONE OF THEM TO TAKE YOUR PERSONAL INJURY CASE IN THE FIRST PLACE. THANK YOU TORT REFORMERS, I HOPE ALL THESE CROOKS WHO LOBBIED FOR TORT REFORM ROT IN HELL! You are sure this guy is still and attorney and hasn't been disbarred, right?
