This company must have the most complaints of any company I have seen here. 7 months after I deployed to Iraq, I looked at my charge card bill (fortunately I do this every month) and found a charge for $109.99 from TLG*TRAVEL ADV. Now I've been working on paying this charge card off for a few months, and fortunately I watch my balance every month.

The information I have been getting from my internet searches has been about the same. This company 'slams' you with charges in the hopes that you will not check your charge card statement. Maybe if the charge was 10 bucks or less, it would not be worth my time to complain, but over a hundred dollars?

So all told, this TLG company (Trilegiant) partners with companies that you have signed up with for a service, such as a recurring rental fee for online movie rental through Blockbuster online. TLG works a deal to get YOUR information from the company that obtained it legitimately, and TLG charges your credit card in the hopes that you don't look at your statement. They claim this is for some service they are providing. Now if I'm paying over a hundred clams for a service, I would think that the service provider would send some literature with a cute little plastic card with a membership number and an explanation of benefits. NOT WITH TLG!! They send you nothing because they want to stay under the radar so you don't see the charges and don't dispute them.

Please, if you have credit cards or debit cards, LOOK AT YOUR MONTHLY STATEMENTS!! I can't believe how common this is, and the figures I'm finding say that 40% of the people charged never even know it. They must have a ton more money than I do.

Finally, I think this type of conduct should be outlawed, as these people are preying on the weakest of the weak. The people that don't have the time or the ability to look at their charge card statement and understand what all the charges are or are afraid to contest the charges are the ones getting stiffed. I'll get my money back, but what about the 40% that don't? This company is a predator and needs to have their doors closed.
