I had an appointment with Today Appliance Repair at 10am on 09/29/14. 2 guys show up late, not wearing company shirts, dressed in plain clothes. Company represented itself as a licensed GE repair service, I called GE and they have no record. I needed my dishwasher diagnosed/fixed for repair. The guys said the dishwasher needed to cleaned b/c of soap buildup. They called the boss and came back with a $395.00 estimate, this just for cleaning soap buildup. I denied that obscene charge. They frowned and wanted the $55 service call charge, no standard negotiations on price, nothing. I told them they were overcharging and I needed to call their boss to discuss. As I was dialing the boss, one of the men, who didn’t speak good English, went into the dishwasher and pulled out the bottom rack with all the dishes in it. He proceeded to walk out of my house with it, bringing it to his van, theft. I tried to stop him and realized they left their tool bag in my house. I ran back in and locked the doors, called 911 and they wanted to make a swap. I agreed. I gave them the bag and they proceeded to throw the rack with all the dishes on my front lawn, the dishes were broken and the rack was as well.
Thereafter I’ve been trying to settle this with the owner, Angelo. He’s made lots of empty promises and getting blown off. I was considering suing this company as my 9 year old daughter was home at the time and witnessed the entire event. The nature of what has happened has caused issues of fear and may need to take her to a therapist over this whole non-sense scenario.
End result as I see it, this company is fraudulently billing themselves as manufacturer licensed repair certified, which according to GE, is a lie. They have possible criminals working for them, entering peoples homes, probably no background checks. They are screwing the clients with overinflated charges for small work, and strong-arming payment of service charges. Criminal behavior all the way around, and the worst customer service I’ve ever seen or heard. My assertation is they should be shut down, of course that’s up to you, but it does give me pleasure submitting this complaint, maybe I can spare another homeowner the nightmare of this company.
