I was hired as a business consultant by Tom Colangelo, owner of
Safeguard Your Home, which is an ADT Home Security Authorized Dealer. Upon my initial observation of the companies selling practices I was shocked and appalled! Under Tom Colangelo's tutelage, his door-to-door sales people were canvassing local neighborhoods in Denver Colorado spewing lies and deceit. His staff had been trained to knock on the door and state "Don't worry, I am not selling anything..." when in reality that is and was the only purpose for their visit. Furthermore, Tom's employees were coached to tell unsuspecting consumers that there was absolutely no cost at all to the security systems that his company sold. They claimed that they were giving the systems away completely free of charge. Yet after they had the opportunity to build some rapport and utilize scare tactics they would then make mention of the costs associated with installation and activation. Not to mention there is a minimum three year contractual obligation to the monthly monitoring service that they provide. All in all consumers would be out of pocket a minimum of one hundred dollars up front, and over twelve hundred for the monitoring fees... How is that for free? And what about the "Don't worry, I am not selling anything..." My immediate advice was for Tom and his staff to stop lying and start selling. Honestly. This advice got me a one way ticket home with the balance of my consulting fee unpaid. So if you are a consumer, potential employee, or vendor, please use extreme caution in dealing with this dishonest and unethical company whose values reflect those of their owner Tom Colangelo.

I have since been paid in full by Tom Colangelo owner of Safeguard Your Home. I understand he has taken corrective measures to properly train his staff to eliminate any future deceit in their marketing efforts.
