The owner Jon Hankins of Knoxville TN is a 2 time convicted felon… Follow Link: archive.knoxnews.com/business/fraud-scheme-nets-second-prison-term-for-knoxville-investor-jon-hankins-ep-360893543-357059921.html/

Most Automotive Warranty Companies have an underwriting Clip “RE-INSURANCE” Policy that protects the consumers and dealerships in the event that the warranty company should ever go out of business and or file bankruptcy. There are some States that require the “Re-Insurance Clip” to do business in that State, and in some States  it is not required.

It is not illegal to operate without a “Clip”, but this company has created many dealership relationships based on a lie. I was told that the owner Jon Hankins told his sales reps that they were in fact RE-INSURED with Amtrust, when in fact they are not. I asked my local Sales Rep several times to PLEASE PROVIDE PROOF of their Re-Insurance Clip, but he was never able to provide the proof. Many auto Dealerships across the US, including mine in NC, were told by Tapp representatives that they were insured and backed by Amtrust. (THIS LIE WAS TOLD TO ME, AND I MOVED FORWARD WITH THEM BASED ON THIS LIE”) I would not have sold their warranties to my customers if I had known the truth behind this company.

As they say a Leopard never changes his spots, perhaps 3rd Times The Charm and the Owner Jon Hankins will finally be stopped and put out of business before he can do too much harm. I signed up with Total Automotive Protection Plans back in February 2018 and noticed a huge change as far as customer service go’s over the past several months. A couple of my customers had claims that Tapp denied, saying the mechanical issue was PRE-EXISTING. Well please tell me how they can determine this when both claims were after 30 days and both cars had been driven over 1000 miles? SO CONSUMERS AND AUTO DEALERSHIPS… PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS UNETHICAL and Possible Fraudulent Company. It sounds to me like the owner Jon Hankins is up to his old tricks. Hopefully this company will be out of business before they can hurt to many people and dealerships.

Address The Facts

This is in response to Total Automotive Protection Plans rebuttal.

They say in the rebuttal that this is Categorically and Factually Incorrect.

So Lets Address the facts:

Employee or Independent Contractor told my partner and I that they were insured by AmTrust (THEY ARE NOT) He said the owner of Tapp warranty had told him that they were. Other warranty companies that we are using had no problem providing proof. It was actually a sales rep from another warranty company that told me to take a closer look at the owner of Tapp and the false claims that they were insured with AmTrust.

When asked to please provide proof, our local rep said he was working on it but we were never provided proof.

Also in the rebuttal they mention that in late 2017 and early 2018 they had an initial agreement but have not finalized with any particular underwriter. What is an “INITIAL” Agreement? Fact is my sales rep told me the owner said they were re-insured with AmTrust.

Owner Jon Hankins of Knoxville TN has 2 Felony Convictions (No mention of this in their rebuttal) Im sure they don’t want to address this fact.

They mention that this post is from a disgruntled employee, it is not, and it doesn’t address any of the facts that we talked about when writing our first post.

They also said the fact that a dealership has posted this is another factual inaccuracy; dealerships don’t use words like “CLIP or Re-Insurance”

I have been in the car business for about 20 years and was a general sales manager for a large Automotive Group for 5 years before investing and partnering in our independent car lot. My business partner has over 40 years in the car business and I assure you we are both very knowledgeable with all the WORDS and Terminology related to all aspects of our industry.

So in closing lets recap:

FACT: Our dealership as well as other dealerships were told by Total Automotive Protection Plans (Employee- or Independent Contractors) that they were re-insured with AmTrust

FACT: They are not re-insured with AmTrust

FACT: The owner Jon Hankins has 2 Felony Convictions

This post is categorically and factually incorrect.    Total Automotive Protection Plan has been in business since 2016 and is fully licensed and/or bonded to operate.   Total Automotive Protection Plan has nothing short of an impeccable service record and reputation.    This is the probelm with sites like this, there is no factual checks or opportunity for a company to defend itself and be heard without having an ongoing blemish.   The indiviual posting these types of negative comments about Total Automotive Protection Plan is a disgruntled employee who is a convicted drug trafficker.   Unfortunately, Total Automotive Protection Plan was not aware of this when he was hired.    He is now trying to market a different service contract company in the Raleigh NC and surrounding areas.

Total Automotive Proection Plan utilizes Independent Agents in the the field who are independent contractors and not employees of Total Automotive Protection Plan.   These independent contracts have been made fully aware both verbally and face to face as to our current position with potential underwriters.   In fact Total Automotive Protection Plan did have an initial agreement in place with an underwiter in late 2017 and early 2018 but have not finalized an agreement with any particular underwriter at this time.

The fact that a "dealership" has posted this is another factual inaccuracy.    Dealerships do not use the words "CLIP" or re-issurance and these pathetic attempts have been made on other sites.   It's really very sad as this former contractor vowed to retaliate in this pathetic manner.  These posts are simply a pathetic attempt by the pathetic disgruntled employee in the pathetic attempt to sway some uninformed auto dealerships into now using the product he is now peddling.

I do not and will not hide behind anonymous posts such as this from pathetic people.    I am available to speak anytime at our offices.
