My nephew was a first time truck driver and was hired by this company upon earning his CDL license The company gave the option to either lease or pruchase the 18 wheeler that he would be driving. My nephew took to option to purchase the truck. The first few months with the company was fine, but as 6 months approached, the loads dispatched became less and less. In fact so much less that my nephew was going to have trouble makng the $700 weekly truck payment. He complained to the management about the dispatcher and the next load that he got dispatched to, was a parking lot. He sat in that parking lot for 2 days before they finally gave him a legitimate load. When he got near the dispatch office he went in to complain and the company ended up firing him.
My nephew had heard talk about this company during his short time out on the road, but felt that he was doing a good job and they would not do to him what they had done to other drivers. The company allows you to make decent money the first few months but then starts dispatching fewer and fewer loads until finally you start owing them. You already owe for the truck payment and now you owe because you didn't put enough miles in that week. This company is a scam. They are having all of their trucks paid for by new drivers. Then when they terminate you because you complain about not getting loads, they take their truck back and don't refund you any of the $700 weekly payment that you made to purchase the truck. They breach their contract with you and keep the truck that you have been making the payments on, plus and kitty money that you have built up for incidentals.
Then to make matter worse they took my nephews CDL license and now he has to attend anger management for the next seven weeks in order to get it back, but it isn't exactly anger management that he has to attend as he found out today when he signeg up for the AA class. He isn't an alcoholic but has to attend an AA meeting 2x per week for the next 7 weeks in order to get his CDL license back.
First they ripped him off by taking money out of his check to pay for their truck. Then they terminated him and he will not get any of the tuck payment money back or be able to find another job and keep the truck by continuing to make payments on it. Then to ensure that he wouldn't be able to take another driving job to be able to make payments on the truck, they took his CDL and he is forced to attend AA meetngs for the next 7 weeks to get his CDL license back even though he isn't an alcoholic.
This company needs to be stopped because what they did to my nephew is, according to the rumors, their MO. This is the way they conduct their business to have their drivers pay for the fleet of 18 wheelers and then terminate the driver so that they maintain the truck.
My nephew should be refunded for all payments made on the truck since Trans Am breached their contract, prevented him from being able to find other employment until his 7 weeks of classes are completed and have informed him that they will be keeping half of his kitty money that they hold for incidentals.
