DVR / Ransom!  Byron said "Your DVR is way out of warranty".  He was adamant that my DVR had only a one year warranty and also that the company would not accept it back unless it was with the original box and packaging.  Digital Watch Dog says UNTRUE; the unit has a 5 year warranty and they don't care what box its returned in and that I am only liable for shipping it to them.

Byron is now holding my DVR and will not return to me unless I pay a $100.00 service call.  I only requested the service call because he told me it was out of warranty.  He is quick to service you when you pay him $2411.64 for a 8 channel system with only 4 cameras.  He also brought out a DVR that did not work and wanted to sell me that and I would have purchased that if it had worked for $175.00.  Now I wonder if I have faulty wiring since neither DVR was working.  He took my DVR with him to check it out and says he threw it in the trash.  All of this is Byron's work and he should have stood behind it. Don't call this guy move on and save yourself.

My Name is Bryon McAvoy and I'm the President of Tri-Tech Security Inc.

I was contacted by Bill (the poster) about his DVR being bad. I responded to the DVR location and power cycled the DVR several times hoping to get it past the hangup point in the hardware/software.  This did not work.  I told bill to leave the DVR unplugged for 24 hours as the box was fairly hot, and to plug it in tommorow and see if the DVR would come up work properly. I advised Bill to contact me and let me know.  The next day Bill called me and said that plugging the unit back in did not work.  I advised Bill that I thought I had the same DVR (slightly used) in my office that I would bring out to see if it worked and we could work out a smoking deal on.

I brought out the used DVR and it did not work after all. I then advised Bill that that he needed to buy a new DVR and gave him the price. of about $400.00 installed He stated that he would get back to me.

A day or so later Bill called me and started the conversation with a F-bomb and then continued into a 2 minute+ obscenity laced tirade as to how big of a f-ing jerk I am.  Yes, the DVR manafacturer does offer a 5 year warranty that in all honesty I forgot....yes I truly forgot. I forgot because I tore my rotaor cuff and was due for surgery the next day, due to the pain I was not working on all cylinders.  I confessed to Bill that I forgot. Bill wants to play the part of the victim and state that I'm just a rip off con man he even accused me off getting the part fixed and selling them as new again.....really.

I had the Rotarter cuff surgery and took a week off work then I called Bill.  Bill cussed me up and down again and I decided right then that I will not accept this type of verbal abuse in my life and I was no longer dealing with this foul mouth man.

I informed Bill that I have his DVR ( I still do) and the charge was now $100.00.

$75.00 for the first response and $25.00 for his foul mouth abuse. It was REALLY that bad folks.....

Yes, Had I rememberd that the DVR had a 5 year warranty this would have been eliminated however due to the discomfort/pain I was in due to the torn rotator I forgot.

The cost would be about the same for Bill to send back the DVR as to buy a new one though., and he would of had a better DVR in the long run. The DVR would have been repaired for free with a 6-8 week turnaround time. Bill would have incurred charges from us for the original response service call as well as the reinstallation and set up of the DVR as well as shipping and handling. Bills DVR was past the 1 year point that is the indusrty standard for a 100% free repair.

Bill's DVR was most likley damaged due the construction that was occouring by the town he lives in installing sidewalks/curb/gutter they most likly caused a power surge that damaged his DVR.

AT NO POINT IN TIME DID I QUOTE THE PRICE OF $2411.64 FOR A REPLACEMENT DVR. thats just silly.
