My name is Cheryl Kissell and I own a property at 1131 S Dogwood Inverness, FL. I had just bought the property and was having inspections done to determine what repairs were needed. One was the roof for a reshingling job.
Here is the brief basics and I have detailed out more info if you want or need it. This was done by my workers...unless I note it was done by myself.
11/29 Site manager, Tony called AAA Roofing for the free estimate they offer they stated they could and would do the job right away.
12/5 Site manager, Tony called to ask when they could get us on their schedule and they said they couldn't answer without a check. Tony came to me to pick-up the check and suggested what I should write it for as he reiterated they said they would start right away.
12/6 AAA roofing picked up the check and asked Tony for his signature on the proposal, which I had never seen. BTW, he did not sign his legal name...he used what he goes by as he was not informed it was a contract as the top claims it IS a Proposal. He was never authorized by me as owner to sign anything to Contract me and he knew he wasn't authorized to contract me.
12/8 Tony called and asked when they were starting the job...he was told they couldn't start until approx Jan 6 , because that is how long it takes to get a permit. He tried to reach me but I was on the phone with Shianne, their permit gal.
12/8 Shianne from AAA Roofing calls me and says I am not the owner according to the county. I requested the county permit #, so I can check for myself. I called Site manager, Tony and told him about this and then he shared what they told him about not starting right away. I called the county and they found me right away and they also stated it takes a few days to get a permit, especially if they ask for expedited. So this company was lying to us and I told Tony I did not want to work with them and he agreed. I called Shianne back and told her, as the owner, they were not authorized to move forward.
12/8 Then a woman named Charmain calls me and says she has to check for a start date...I told her I canceled the contract and would like a refund. She said if the bank cleared the check she would issue a refund. I already knew the check cleared (and I believe they did too) and told her so stated I would expect it next week.
12/12 Charmain called again and stated they would start the job Wednesday...I told her I canceled it with Shianne and her and am waiting for a refund...what are they trying to pull?
12/13 The estimator, Jim Haussy, calls me to say they pulled a permit and will start the job Wednesday, the 14th. Now they are making me mad. I told him I am waiting for a refund as I canceled the JOB. He claims they do not give refunds. I told him I didn't contract with him and as the owner, I do not view a check as a contract. He hung up on me and the office is now just hostile.
I have written complaints to the Better Business Bureau, Citrus County Builders Association, Hernando County Builders Association, F.R.S.A., Members of Citrus County Realtors Association,Florida Dept of Business and Professional Relations, and the FTC. NONE of these firms should "accredit a business" like this and should be REVISITING every 3 years to determine if they are the same company. Obviously a company is ONLY as good as their employees and right now they do not have good employees.
Today is April 21st and they still have NOT refunded my money, the roof is done and they do not deserve to keep one penny of MY deposit. For what? They did nothing, they were fired the same day they cashed my check, they are not out of pocket because of anything I or my crew did...we didn't even select the materials to be used. Where is the Business Practices and Principles behind keeping money and not doing anything for it?
