Triple Crown Maffucci moved me from Brooklyn to Northern California. They promised delivery in 7-10 days and did not apologize when my belongings finally arrived 19 days later. Once the truck arrived I immediately started emptying boxes to make room in the house. I opened one box with man's clothing and informed the movers that it did not belong to me and they returned it to the truck.

Over the next several days I begin to open boxes and realized that several of my items were missing. Clothing, bookshelves, legs to my oval mirror, sweaters and designer purses all gone. I called the company and was informed that the driver said that nothing else was on his truck. I called back the next day and was informed that the driver said that I signed the Bill of Landing and confirmed that I had everything. I suggested that they check the other five families that were also loaded on the truck for the trip across country. I am sure that someone had my belongings just as I had a box of men's clothing.

I filed a report and the company replied as follows: "Based upon our review of your file, we are unable to offer any settlement on this claim and mus decline liability for your claim as submitted." "Late Delivery-Not Qualified for Warranty. Clothing Box-Not Documented at Delivery. Clear Carton w/Red Handle-Not Documented at Delivery. Blue Carton w/Sweaters/Misc-Not Documented at Delivery. Bookshelves-Not Documented at Delivery."

I was not informed that every box must be open and every item accounted for before the driver left my house. The company's blatant disregard for my belongings and the trust that I placed in them is not acceptable. The will not take responsibility for any part of my lost.

Triple Crown Maffucci is a family owned business that has been serving the New York Metropolitan Area since 1938. We are an agent for Bekins Van Lines. This move, since it went from Brooklyn, NY to San Rafael, CA was under Bekins Van Lines authority. We regret that Carol was dissatisfied with her move; however, we feel that both our agency and Bekins Van Lines followed proper procedures in handling Carol's claim request. Once a move is finished the people who process a claim need to review paperwork to decide whether the claim is valid or not. These people were not directly involved in the moving process like the customer, the driver of the moving truck or his helpers. Paperwork is their only guideline. In this case, the bill of lading for this move, the form with the moving charges on it, was signed by the customer upon delivery with no exceptions for damages or missing items. The Customer Service Report was signed by the customer upon delivery with no exceptions as well. This form asks questions that customer needs to initial such as " I have checked off each page of the inventory and have noted any apparent loss and damage in the destination column." The customer initialed next to the question, stating that after the walk thru with her driver nothing was missing or damaged. Finally, each item on the inventories pages were checked off and signed by both the driver and customer upon delivery. With all the paperwork in good order, the only other measures the claims adjuster at Bekins can take would be to speak to the driver about anything left on his truck and to speak to other customers who's belongings were on the truck at the same time to see if they have extra items. These procedures were followed and no additional items were found. As a respected family owned and run business, we are dissatisfied any time one of our customers is not happy with their move. In this particular case, everything was done according to proper procedure based on Carol signing all the paperwork that nothing was missing or damaged when our driver left her new home. We wish Carol well in her future. Judd Levine Triple Crown Maffucci Bekins
