So I brought my car into Tuffy the other day thinking I had a problem with my car. I thought it was running hotter than normal. I never said it was overheating, just running hotter than normal making myself clear. They told me I need a new thermostat and did a coolant flush costing me 374 some dollars. I went and picked my car up. They didnt show me my car after they were fished. And it took them an extra day.

The next day I was driving to work and I noticed my car was smoking. So I called up Tuffy again. They told me to bring it in. I did and my water pump was leaking. The guy, Jerry told me that sometimes the pressure will cause it to break after changing and flushing to system. They charged me 216 dollars for that.

My water pump was fine before I brought my car in there in the first place. My car was never leaking.

Right after I left Tuffy for the second time, my service vehicle soon light kept coming, and my car was running just the same as it was before I had brought it in.

Hotter than normal I thought. I don't know much about cars thats why I brought it to Tuffy.

So I went back there telling them we still had a problem. They looked at my car and said it was fine. I looked at my car with them and showed them what I thought running hot ment. I said, " That's where my car was running in the first place!" Another guy, Mark, told me that when they checked my car it was fine, but according to MY definition it was not so they went and did the work, telling me I needed it.

I asked him if they had checked my electric fans. I checked them with him. They were fine. Then he told me, because my front end is cracked up that air is not getting through there correctly and could be causing my car to be heating up a little.

I just payed these guys to fix something that THEY knew didnt need to be fixed. And then to fix something that they had broken. Obviously I had others problems that they ignored. They took advantage of me and my money. I am a 20 year old female and I make just about $12,000 a year. I cannot afford to pay for something that doesnt need to be fixed.

On 04/13/2007 we did inspect the vehicle in question. The water pump was not leaking at that time or we didn't see it leaking at that time no fluid was coming out of the pump. Therefore we suggested a thermostat, gasket, and a coolant flush. We test drove the vehicle and sent it home with the customer. The next morning she did return and we did see the water pump leaking. We charged her for the water pump and the labor to fix it, test drove the vehicle and sent her on the way. Yes the pump was leaking at second check, However it is normal to replace thermostat, thermostat gasket and flush the coolant system when replacing the water pump. The vehicle did have 134.457 miles and it is good policy to do the extra things when replacing the pump. I am sorry we did not see the pump leaking the first day, but to think we pass the water pump up to sell maintence is a little far fetched. I hope this gives you both sides of the story and you have a better understanding of the requirements of changing pumps on automobiles. Thank Tuffy Auto Service Center Cape Coral Florida
