I was with UGA for almost 3 years. Upfront money to begin, got to pay for my school, got to pass my test, got to pay for license..Already in the hole. After 3 years of being away from them, I received a 1099 for 2006 for the sum $1389 then for 2007, I receive a 1099 for $12,031.55. I have talked to that famous Dan Carter in 2006. He told me I was in the hole. I listened to my division manager, bash his agents. One in particular, who had to travel over 3 hours every Monday to be a part of a "eat my a*s" session about how we are not doing all we can to make appointments and sell and then when one particular agent didn't show up he said, Well I guess he just won't get his commission check. You could tell his blood pressure was high because he got so mad and threw the agents check down on the floor. That happened so many times. It is strange that this Division manager is no longer in Alabama but in Louisiana. There is not one agent with him. While in Alabama, they all got feed up. Not only that, him and his little wife caused a lot of agents who were making a 6 figure income go bankrupt because of all the lies. One particular district manager, had to pay an enormous amount of rent to have an office in the same building. That poor man was treated like a step child and he worked for UGA for years before working with this group. He had been out of work for over 2 years because his wife had cancer and finally passed on. He spent so much of his own money trying to be the good manager and he was very geniune. The divisional manager and his wife had their hands always out for more.. It was very sad. He got so upset and fed up that he leaves in the middle of the night with all that his car would hold of his personal belongings. The next day everything was confiscated including his deceased wife's wedding rings, his office furniture that he bought and all of his camera and video equipment that he bought. He died a few months ago from cancer himself. I can't help to think that the stress of it all and having to file bankruptcy the first time in his life helped put him in his grave too soon. There are so many of these agents who had to file bankruptcy. I talk to them on occasion. People who were doing good and were talked into leaving their paying job because of "The Dream" including myself. I was fortunate. I was able to fall back on my husband who had a good job. I emailed the divisional manager and also Dan Carter to let them know that the reason I was leaving was because there was alot of commission that wasn't paid to me. The checks were being held. Most of the commissions that I received toward the end were my leads that i paid for not their stupid B leads that had been old and worn out. I was ask to train agents, chase agents to give me their applications, I had to review them and race to Federal express before they closed and pay out of my pocket to send them that I never once got reimbursed. They wanted me to be a manager but after what my friend went through I thought ..no way. When I didn't get my commission, I quit. I get a 1099 each year and can't get anything done about them. The divisional manager and his lovely wife, told everyone he had to fire me and that I only sold to relatives and then had them cancel them. Why on earth would I do such a thing??? I never sold a policy to any friends or relatives...I never misrepresented any of their products knowingly. It was a hard market too. I was always fortunate with my own health care and never knew how deceitful a policy could be until I started reading the fine print. It was represented a lie. The premiums were going up on my clients every six months. If you were an outpatient, which most medical services are these days, it just didn't pay anything and then you had the large deductable. Anyone that hasn't watched the documentary "Sicko" should do so and I have been emailing Michael Moore regarding Mega Life and Health. Some people doesn't like his way of thinking, but he hit the nail right on the head on his documentary. I plan to write to Tony Garcia who is the head honcho at UGA. I have left messages with their legal representative, Kent Schooler and Dan Carter. No one is returning my calls. If anyone wants me to support any class action suit against this company, I will be l will be glad to do so. I just want these idiots behind me but I am willing to put up a fight. I think I would be doing this for lots of agents that has been ruined by this company. I worked very hard for this company..gone all hours of the night after long drives to one potential clients house and some of them did not like the policy and of course I went for nothing. I just couldn't afford to work for them any longer. I was paying out more that I was being paid. I want to know what I can do for myself and others who have been hurt. For all the agents that still work for UGA...you haven't quit yet...it all changes after that no matter how well you did...Thanks

Thanks

Trish

This same thing happens to 60-70% of the new agents that they hire. I worked for them for 6 1/2 months and luckily quit before I got too far in the hole. After receiving a collection letter from UGA, I mentioned it to another friend of mine that had also worked for them and he told me that he had heard that if you simply do not pay them they'll leave you alone. They'll send it to their collection agency but you dont pay them either. He also said it will never be reported to the credit bureaus and all that all you'll end up with is a 1099 on whatever they end up writing off. Paying taxes on the amount on your 1099 will be much less than what they will be attempting to collect. I did this and am no longer being pursued by anyone and it has never shown up on my credit.
