Below is a copy of the letter sent to me after several e-mails conserning winnings with the UK National Lottery. After receiving this e-mail asking for money from me, I checked them out at the better-bb, but could find no informaion on them. Probably because they are overseas. But luckily I checked them out here on the bad-bb.

I too received a letter like the one listed on your web site from The UK National Lottery. After several e-mails, this is a copy of the final 'hook' letter trying to get you to send between $664.21 up to $1,033.98 in order to have your winnings sent to you.

Luckily I avoided being defrauded, by checking them out first on the bad buisness bureau.

Thank you.

"This is to inform you that you have been officially

cleared for payment by the Verifications Dept. at the headquarters of the UK National Lottery.

The original copy of your certificate from the British

Government stating that the money was obtained legally through their National Lottery will be sent to you or your bank as soon as you meet with any of the option selected and your winnings will be couriered or transferred to you immediately.

You can now begin the final step of the claims process, which is the transferring of your winning prize to you. With regards to this, there are three options open to you, you are required to select the most convenient of the three. The options, together with their associated conditions are presented below:

OPTIONS:

Courier of your winning draft to you via any of this

channel listed below:

OCS EXPRESS DELIVERY (2working days)

Mailing.................................75.00

Insurance.............................450.00

Vat (5%)................................044.75

Mailing ;.............................47.00

Insurance.............................300.00

Vat (5%)..............................019.00

TOTAL.................................366.00===$664.21

The insurance company declined reverse payment for the

courier, stating that it is against their professional policy towards ensuring the safe delivery of the draft to you. That if a reverse payment is made, and something goes wrong, that we/you cannot sue the courier company or insurance company to recover the full value of the fund as stipulated in the draft since payment for insurance cover was not made at point of mailing.

With the above reason, reverse payment is ruled out.

Note that your prize is protected by a hardcover

insurance policy by GEOTRUST INSURANCE COMPANY, which makes it impossible to deduct any amount from the money before it has been remitted to you. This means that the above charges cannot be deducted from the prize and

hence must be provided by you before your prize is transferred to you.

UK Lottery Scam - AND OTHERS!

#2Consumer Suggestion

Mon, April 16, 2007

PLEASE Be Careful People - This is what's happened with me just the last few Weeks!! I too, just this past week, received the notice that I am one of those 'random' lucky recipients of the (1)"UK NATIONAL LOTTERY" 'win'($1,600,000 pds) - the terrible thing is that they cite the name "National Lottery UK" which is a real name when you click on the 'line' in the email! & also the numbers they have mentioned are right there on the front page - it looks so real & then you realize they are asking for 'payout' fees(which would never be done in a real lottery win! But also, in the past 5 weeks, I have received the (2)"you have the SAME LAST NAME as my client that died in the London bombing, etc",($4.5 million) then I received from the (3)"head of operations of BARCLAYS BANK"...that I was to be awarded from the will of ?? ($6.5 million), so I should be able to move out of Senior housing soon - All of these RIPOFFS have been from LONDON,UK however -- AND Lo & Behold just today, (4)a hard working Texas gal in London is tired of coming here every 2 to 4 weeks & getting her 'large amount of money' and she'll pay me 20% off the top if they can just send the 'cashier's check' to me & I can deposit it in my bank, 'blatty, blatty, bla'' (AND she got my name from the 'American Chamber of Commerce' list of trustworthy people!! FOUR SCEMES/SCAMS IN 5 WEEKS FOLKS - WATCH OUT, OUT THERE!!!!!THANK GOD FOR YOU PEOPLE THAT KEEP US FROM GETTING RIPPED OFF!!!!!!

Everyone should be aware that this scam has nothing to do with the real OCS. We are (in the U.S) OCS America, Inc., and in the U.K. we are Overseas Courier Service (London) Ltd. and OCS Worldwide. We are a shipping company and distributor, in business for nearly 50 years, and are in no way involved with any lottery agencies or anything of the kind. We have become aware of this illegal use of our trademark, and have approached relevant authorities about the problem. We are constantly being contacted by internet users who want to confirm the veracity of these lotteries, and we are assuring everyone that this is total fraud. The names given over these emails are fictitious, and have never been actual employees of our company. The telephone numbers and domains mentioned in these emails are obviously bogus. We applaud the efforts of all of who would expose this fraud. We just want to make it clear that OCS is not the perpetrator, but rather a victim.

UK Lottery Rip Off, thanks to this Report I am not a victim

#9Consumer Comment

Wed, December 14, 2005

I want to thank the person for posting there ripoff regarding the UK National Lottery. I too, just received an email stating that I won and checked them out here and am glad that there is a place like this site to check out all the places that aren't listed with the BBB. I actually emailed them back and wanted to know if they could just take the money I needed to pay for my "winnings" out of that. I'm sure I wont get a response but at least I didnt lose. So thank you.
