2 people came to my grandmothers door tonight attempting to sell her a magazine subscription.  All the proceeds go to charity. They claimed to be from Ultimate Unity based out of Kansas City.  They had also mentioned that they could take cash donations as well.  She doesnt carry cash so she asked if she could write them a check, which they hesitantly agreed to.  She invited them in while she filled out the check.  The lady asked to use the rest room and grandma admitted she was in there for a very long time.  The man sat at her kitchen table.  She was talking with him and had a strange feeling of deja vu. She asked, "Havent I seen you around here before?"  The man replied, "No, this is my first time here, were from Kansas City."  He also informed her that he had done some work in Michagin City as well a long while back.

She wrote them a check for $20 and they went on theyre way.  As they walked off,  Her 'deja vu' red flagged hard core and she knew for a fact she had seen the man before. About that time a neighbor drove by and waved. She flagged them down and asked them to drive by them and tell them she wanted her check back and explained that she thought she made a terrible mistake.  They drove up in a big brown van a few minutes later and handed her the check back.  They proceeded to inform her that she had made a mistake on it and had wrote the number 200.00 but had written twenty dollars and 00/100.  She took her check and closed the door.

My grandmother has carbon copy checks and therefor has hard evidence that the check was correct when she filled it out. So she is absolutely positive that they changed it. Unfortunately, because they gave it back to her no crime was committed and the cops could not do anything about it.

DO NOT let these people fool you!!

NEVER give money to someone at the door.. not even magazines!!

My husband and I was fooled once before with magazines many years ago... it happens all the time!

Discription:  Black male and Black female middle aged driving a large brown van.
