united parcel service u.p.s. ripped us off atlanta, Georgia
my "son" who is in the army, was notified that he had to go back to the war in iraq for the second time,so he sent us his 42 inch plasma television so we could store it for him safely until he returned back from the war.he has always used ups for all his shipping needs and has never had any problems until now.he did package the television himself and the lady at the ups store said that was okay and after knowing that asked him if he wanted to buy insurance on the television.he said sure and bought a insurance policy that insured the package for $700.00.when the package arrived here the delivery person just slammed down the package on my front porch and ran off,not even asking me if i wanted to sign for it.i took the package inside and started opening it,and there it was smashed in a million pieces,i called ups and they said dont worry that he had bought insurance on it and they would pick it up the next day and send us a check for $700.00 to replace the television.they picked it up the next day and a week later called and said they werent sending the money cause it wasnt packaged right.then they said well the insurance doesnt cover damages anyway just if we lose the package.they emailed me a receipt where it did state that but it was on the 3 page of the reciept halfway down and all in small fine print.you know i think that is very wrong.why dont they tell you that before they sell you the insurance that it only covers if they lose the package.you know my "son" had alot on his mind about going back to iraq the next day to war to read the 3 page insurance policy all in small fine print.they recommended him buying the insurance and didnt tell him that hey you know this only covers if we lose it not if we damage it.and i thought that ups had a strong policy of handling each and every package with care.i have filed a complaint with the b.b.b. and we just got the results, ups said the are standing by their decision and not replacing the television.i think that is wrong,if it wasnt for brave men and women protecting our country they wouldnt even be in business and our military uses their services on a regular business, they give them alot of business.so how can they do this, selling insurance that isnt good and only covers if they loss your package and missleading the consumer like that.all we want done in this case is for ups to replace the television they broke so it will be here whenever my "son" gets back from the war, thats it,thats all we want.thank you so much for your valued time and we are hoping that you will help us with this problem.
