I think I've been ripoff by online passport service site.

I was searching for site for my passport renew on google search and found one of site called uspassportonline.com.  I filed the request for passport renewed and gave my credit card.  Their charge was $159 and I thought it was include the passport price, but I later informed that I need to write separate check payment of $200 to dept of state.  Then I felt it doesn't sound like for getting passport renewed so I canceled the service and found the gov site, filled form and printed and send directly to the dept of state for only $140 for regular service for both book and card.  And got my passport and passport card within month.  Then, later I got email from online passport service site that they refunded $114, and I ask why only 114 not 159, they said there is $45 cancellation fee.  and emailed me copy of their policy.  The policy said, cancellation prior to 24 hr subject for cancellation fee.

I think, many site offering service for getting passport is unnecessary service.  They are just taking away people's money.  I learned that you can get the passport easily by just fill out the form yourself just by sending form, picture, old passport, and fee of $110 for book and $30 for card and addition $40 for faster service, directly to the dept of state.

In other word, you're paying double of money to get the new passport.

(159+200=359) and when you cancel service they charge $45 for cancellation fee after 24 hr.

The company provides the terms and conditions for purchase in a few places prior to completing the purchase. In order to do the purchase you must agree to those terms. If you were unwilling to accept any fee to cancel you should have not agreed to the terms of the purchase.

Unfortunatley many online merchants have strict terms and agreements that you must agree to. Consumers are not reading before completing the purchases.
