I hired Valsing Research and Development to create Live Competitive Music Software for my company Lyricist Live LTD. I delivered a detailed Software Layout complete with graphics and functionality specs 9 months ago. Colin assured me that this would be no problem and his team would get it done quickly and efficiently by December 2006. In February 2007 we purchased a dedicated server so we could get our first look at the beta version, which didn't even resemble what we wanted.

Our software was suppose to have Live Music Competitions, Live Music Collaboration, Live Voting, and Live Recording for members to create their own music. Valsing delivered us a flash music player and a basic forum template 6 months after the development began.

After adding a chat room Valsing along with Urban Media tried to deliver this to us as the final product. We sent them the Software Layout 3 more times and attempted to set up multiple phone conferences receiving the cold shoulder each time. They clearly understood what our vision was 11 months ago and now they act as if they had no idea what we were trying to accomplish.

We asked for a refund and we were denied. $7000 for software production and $1000 for our dedicated server that we had no use for crippled Lyricist Live LTD. Now we are stuck with very little cash flow and a developer who ignores us. Colin basically stole our money and tried to deliver an awful product that we had no use for.

Wow. I think this needs a clarification.

So I was doing a bit of Ego Surfing and could not believe that I found this. I won't claim to be an angel or even one of the nicest people on the planet. I won't claim that the project was even going the best of any of the projects that I've done. Let's be accurate as to the circumstances, though. Don't judge a book by its cover, or name in this matter, but Lyricist Live is a group of musically inclined youth that I tried to help out. From the beginning, their specs were huge. I told them that, for the project to be taken seriously, it was going to be between 16-20k. This didn't work out. The specs of the project included a Flash player and recorder for recording the competitors as well as areas for people to rate the competitions (battles), etc. A couple of months went by and we spoke again. I'm not 100% sure how but it was agreed that the project would be done on my developers' own time, some time within the operation hours of the company and some time on their own. It was going to be done for $10k because I believed in the project. Keep in mind that these guys are in Michigan. They made payments based on reviews and acceptance to 75% of the project value. Did I hold a gun to their head or were they at least 75% sure that it was going the right way? The fact of the matter with the dedicated hosting was plain and simple. They needed it to support the framework and it was very expensive. They ignored our advice and went and began spending somewhere between $300-$500 per month just for ego when we told them that they could do it sustainably for $100-$200 per month with 1and1 or something similar. Of course, we were ignored. These gentlemen are in no way technical in expertise. One claimed to be a "web developer" because he had done some websites. Yes, completely different than any high-end form of development. I'll skip to the end of it. These guys just went broke and then canceled the project on us. Not only that, they quaintly did a charge back of all of the money, completely. How nice. So we were left out $7500.00. You guys got your money back. I think, personally, that you are ignorant, less than entry level people that happened to borrow mom and dad's money and didn't make wise decisions. Don't post things that you lost all of your money. We took the loss because you wouldn't even go to court against us about it. You did a charge back. Why not sue us? Because you had nothing but just acted like children and stole the money from us where you were given the money before we even had a chance to give our side of the story. To have fought it was going to cost us another $2k and our option was NOT in court but, instead, through the payment processor, by NO means any form of legal entity nor representative. If anyone is interested, you can see work we've done for Visa, XM Radio, Kendra Wilkinson from the E! Channel, Disney, etc. I do believe in supporting myself and my team so there's a difference between being someone's best friend or treating things as a fair business engagement. If anyone is curious, visit us at urbnmedia.com and check out our portfolio. Figure it out for yourself, though, not just because some part-time business people with their parents' credit card take 3 minutes to type it out.
