When I first got a room at the ValuePlace it was recommended by the VA hospital here in Fayetteville.  I was told that they had a veterans discount and it was affordable for my limited income. This was all true up until the big wigs from corporate came in and decided to change things so that they could make more money. First they got rid of the Veterans discount claiming that they wasn't getting enough money to pay for the room. Second they changed the rental agreement for the room from a 30 day period to a 28 day period claiming that it should have never been 30 days that the previous manager was not running the place right. The only reason that the really did this was so they could charge more money. Also because of this change it made it so they could charge taxes. Pryor to this no one who was staying longer was being charged any tax. The corporate big wigs said that they would keep everything the same for the month of June so that would give me time to find another place this was a lie when it came time for me to pay my rent I went to pay it and they tried to charge me tax stating that I could take it up with the state of Arkansas when I protested and continued to protests because they had said they had claimed they would keep things the same and to me that meant I wasn't paying taxes before I wouldn't be paying them for this month either. I was told they was not a charity and I was kicked out. They did not care if I was homeless. They have not only made me homeless but they put a mother out with her baby for not being able to pay the difference because of the tax. They locked an elderly lady out after she went the hospital and instead of giving her her deposit they gave it to her son without her knowledge.  When she got out and went to go back they told her she no longer lived there and she would have to leave. Again they knew she was in the hospital and they knew her son didn't pay her deposit but they gave it to him anyway and left her homeless. They claim that they are handicapped accessible which was also a lie. The door as you go into the lobby doesn't have a button so someone in a wheelchair could push and have the door open as a result of this on one occasion a woman in a chair got her finger caught in the bar that is used to push the door open it almost tore the tip of her finger off. The front desk had to call an ambulance because she was on blood thinners and the bleeding wouldn't stop. Before the ambulance got there she was told to make sure to have her insurance cards. They were not going to pay for her accident that their door had caused. The ValuePlace cares only about the money they can make and not their guest who stay there. I found out from the place I am now staying that if a guest stays more than a month then they do not have to charge taxes because it is like renting an apartment or a room it is only because the ValuePlace changed their rentals from 30 days too 28 days makes it so they can charge  and also more money for the rooms. They claim they are the cheapest that its the the truth either.
