Vinnie's Painting And Roofing Roofer Did Poor Job Edison New Jersey
In 2004 I bought a house that needed a new roof. I hired Vinnie's Painting and Roofing. Vinnie and I agreed that if the plywood underlying the roof needed to be replaced he would put in fresh insulation beneath the new plywood. The day came to replace the roof, and I climbed up to the roof to see how the work was coming. The roof did need new plywood, but the workers were not installing insulation, they were just nailing down the new plywood without any insulation beneath it. When I complained to Vinnie he agreed that they would put in insulation, and I ran off to Home Depot, bought a bunch of insulation, and Vinnie's team installed it. But I wondered why I had to tell him to do it when we already had agreed about this.
The roofers took a lunch break, and I went up to the roof. I poured a gallon of water from the top of the roof, and the water pooled in a small pond about a foot from the edge of the roof. The water did not flow into the gutter. When I complained to Vinnie, he fixed it. But I wondered why I had to tell him about the problem.
The roof was eventually finished and Vinnie gave me an invoice promising a 15-year warranty.
About a month after the roof was done, we had a strong rainstorm and the roof leaked in one spot. I called Vinnie but he didn't return my repeated phone calls. I wrote him but he didn't respond. I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau, but Vinnie didn't respond to their inquiries. (Since it has been more than 3 years, my experience with Vinnie no longer shows up on the Trenton BBB website.) I filed a report with the state's Division of Consumer Affairs, but Vinnie didn't respond to their inquiries.
I got some roofing cement and I fixed the leak myself. The roofers had installed a roofing vent poorly, which created the leak. All of this is old news, but I'm still angry about the poor-quality job Vinnie did and his lack of response after giving a 15-year warranty.
