I have a 2002 VW W8 which has been in the shop for the better part of the last six months it has been in the shop. It entered West Houston shop on the 27th of September, with a detailed report from the dealer in Colorado where the car had been serviced, and also where the district rep had approved the replacement of an electrical harness which had been contaminated with the coolant. Go and figure, well after two weeks I called and was told that the part was not in yet.

A week later I called VW America and they informed me that the part had not been ordered. I talked to the service Mngr and he said the part was not in but did not bother to check with the parts mngr. The car is a beautiful car that does not grant you, for 38,000.00 dollars the right to drive it, and what is worse The company has been overcome by inefficient non caring service people who I believe are the main cause for which VW los 2.5% of their sales in the past year, and became the worst performing European car manufacturer.

After much arguing the service man at West Houston told me if I did not like it why didn't I take my car elsewhere. The problem with the car is simple, a temperature sensor opened and di not close and allowed coolant into the wire harness, sometime when needing power it was not there for whatever reasons lost power and more lights showed up in the dash. Why make a luxury car like the Phaeton when they can't keep the passat or jettas on the road?
