I posted a note on Craigslist looking for parts and/or mechanic for an old Audi that belongs to a college student friend. Initiallly this person wrote back offering service. When no one had responded to his midnight email by noon the next day, he sent a rage- and obscenity filled email and stated he'd flag my very legitimate ad into oblivion.
I have called all the legitimate VW/European car shops in the area and no one has heard of him, although one place mentioned there was a scruffy guy 'who did not look like a mechanic' by that name who had 'come around' a few weeks before.
I shudder to think what this person would have done to my young student friend had they made contact.
He identified himself as Ed, a vw/audi mechanic with 30 years experience with experience. His user name was VW Guy and his email address [email protected]
