I had an oil change done at this Wally's back in Dec '07 due to bad weather and no line at the oil change lane. Well what a mistake. Forward three months later when the next oil change was due and nicer weather at hand. I was underneath my vehicle, drain pan ready, loosening the oil drain plug. I had done it times before ( my car has over 190k miles ) and this was the first time it felt very hard coming out.

Finally after taking it off I noticed it was not the original. It had a magnetic tip, not an OEM plug. It was definitely not the one I had taken off countless times before. I figured it was swapped out by mistake from another car, being that the threads were not the same and it was already cross threaded. I borrowed my wife's car and drove the plug to this Wally's where the oil was changed.

Well to my surprise all the technician and the manager could do was deny ever changing the oil plug. Only after several pleas to just have them give me the correct oil plug did they look up the work order and told me that they had changed out the plug since it had an "oil leak". But their proactive stance to "correct" the problem is not appreciated when the end result is forcing in the new plug when it was clearly not the correct one. All the manager could say was that he'd "go half" with me on getting my oil pan rethreaded with a correct plug. That was their solution to having put my engine in danger of having slivers of oil plug metal circulating all over the camshaft and crankcase.

I'll never take my car back to that wal-mart, perhaps any wal-marts. I'd rather get wet or be cold while changing the oil at home than take it in to wally's. There's a reason why my car has so many miles and still on the road, but wally's might have ruined that.

The actually stripped the screw then jammed it back in. When he went for an oil change they couldnt get it back in. I had to drive 60 miles to get my mom and dad. My dad got Wal Mart to pay for the 500.00 repair though, he called corporate and threatened to sue... They hire people to work in the tire lube express with NO experience, just an "interest" in automotive..I know, a relative of my husbands works there and we dont trust him to work on our car.
