I have a 1995 Dodge Dakota that I depend on in the course of my job. For six months a year I put on the average of 40 miles a day of hard use on it with frequent startups (8-10 every day), dirt driveways and prolonged air conditioning use in 100 plus degrees weather.

I want my engine to last as long as possible so I try to faithfully change my oil every 3,000 miles. My boyfriend usually does this but against his wishes I had Wal-Mart do it recently. I paid for the upgraded service with high mileage oil and a check of all fluids. I thought everything was fine until 3,000 miles later when my boyfriend changed the oil. He discovered that the same Napa oil filter that he had used on the oil change before I took it to Wal-Mart was still on the truck.

Unbelievably they hadn't even done the work even though I left it there for several hours and paid for it when I picked it up not before. When we went back and confronted them I expected an argument but after looking at their records they found their copy of the work order which they said stated they were unable to do the work because we had installed a quick connect coupler on the oil drain plug and they were unable to remove it. They SELL these couplers right there next to the cash register. Irregardless of that BS why did they take my money for work not performed?

Why didn't one of the mechanics mention it to me when I showed him my receipt in order to get my keys. There solution was to give me another oil change no charge (Big Deal I'm just getting what I paid for) and I like an idiot said ok. Three thousand miles later there I go again, come back a few hours later and no work is done again for reason of quick connect so I insist upon a cash refund and at least I am given that. I hope the extra stress on my engine doesn't shorten it's life but the point here is that if we hadn't had that distinctive filter we never would have known. I find the whole thing very suspicious and after reading some of these other reports perhaps mine isn't an isolated case.
