I had heard that the Toronto office has finally closed.  It took longer than I thought it would but it didnt suprise me at all.  I used to work for them as a Senior Producer, which I later found out they changed the title to Research Directors.  WDM Group used to be know as White Digital Media but they had to change that due to complaints over and over again from former employees and companies wanting their money back.  Google is great that way, search engines pick up on everything so thats why the name changed.  Research Director as well as it was eventually found out that they really are 20 year olds with 3 days of training calling themselves Senior Producers so I guess thats the reason why they changed that.

These guys are modern day slave drivers.  The main goal is to generate money, which is fine, but they way they do it, they way they treat their employees, and the final result or the end product really is a complete and utter piece of garbage.  This company reminds me of something out of the Wizard of Oz.  They are all smoke and mirrors, creating an illusion that it is something bigger and a reputable business.  When the curtain is pulled back its just an exactly what the movie is all about, not what you expect.  And that everything from the Owner, to the Managers, the staff....its a bunch of people acting like they are apart of something, but when you look close, its nothing.  

This company is losing money, bleeding money out and its noones fault but Glen White.  He is a guy who was in the right position some time ago when digital magazines were first being introduced, he's more lucky than anything else.   He grew to fast, too reckless, opening offices in markets where the indsutries were not strong enough to support their over priced rates.  He continued to open offices and hire staff with useless positions meanwhile the company and its business model struggled.  This guys couldnt even pay their employees on time because there wasn't any money there.  

Thats why they started Business Friend in a hope to do something else, but its failing, and it will fail because GlenWhite isn't an innovator, he didnt create anything, he was just lucky, in the right place at the right time, and made money from it.  Not a smart business man, just a lucky guy.  Business Friend has cost them alot of money to produce and maintain, and its bascially a combination of LinkedIn, Facebbok, and Twitter.  I remember sitting in a meeting and listening to an executive talk about how its going to be the next big thing and they are expecting Facebook, LinkedIn and all these other social media companies to come after them.  They don't have to worry about that.  But just to even suggest that shows how arrogant they are.  

The systems worked in the past, but they havent evolved as a company.  They continue to conduct their business as they did 4 years ago.  This company shoots themselves in the foot, they demand their Research Directors to bring on as many lists as possible, but don't understand anything about taking time to build relationships, just get the list in and get it on the floor.  Its such a horrible way to do business.  They lie and say that their digital brochure campaigns have a market value of 40k -50k whicf is completely untrue, yet if that list sells one discounted $1500 quarter page they continue with the feature.  

This company is weak.  Weak Management in the Toronto office is what closed that location down, backed up by weak Directors, weak product....its bound it happen to all of them.   I wish this company would just pack it in.
