Weatherseal put a new roof on our office building in June. The crew removed the shingles on the entire front of the building and covered it with a light weight blue tarp with a predicted rain storm coming that evening. It was a nice day the next day but they didn’t return because they said they had repairs to do from the from the previous night’s rain on other properties. The second evening the rain came in three floors with puddles in the basement. Wet drywall, carpet, hardwood floors and insulation. They said they would be out with three crews and make everything right. It was 30 days before any drywall, carpet or insulation was removed. We had mold in the walls and moisture throughout. They had attempted to dry the place out without removing anything which did not work. The amount of water was huge and 30 days later a moisture meter registered 95% in many of the walls with insulation sitting on top in the attic. At one point the ceiling collapsed and a large section fell. The 5th and 6th week they had their insurance company remove the wet section of drywall, carpet and insulation and proceeded to tell us that they were doing everything they could. It is now two months and I have been offered an insurance settlement by the insurance company to fix it ourselves with pay but we are busy people and have no time unless we give up the last part of our summer. The owner John Conner insists that this incident is an acident. We say that if it was done in a professional manner without removing so much roof with a storm coming this all could have been avoided. Leaving the bare wood roof covered only by a blowing loose tarp was careless. Especially for two days. To make things worse they charged my credit card without out my consent or approval for which they had asked and I refused.
The insurance company of Weatherseal is in the process of making a settlement for us to make the repair ourselves. It is our contention that we our forced to take less than required for repair and we will need to do it ourselves. No attempt was made by Weatherseal to repair the almost 35,00 of damage done because of them letting water in. They said it would be a conflict of interest. We felt that it has been over 2 months and they have done nothing except tear out tear our the drywall, insulation and carpet.
