If all this is exactly as you say then I would call whoever is financing the car (I think you said you know who that is) and tell them your husband's income will drop because of the loss on the contract and as such, your income has changed. They may at that point decide to NOT approve the loan. If this guy did assault your son as you say, then by all means FILE CHARGES and do it NOW. Finally, the time to decide if the price is worthy of the car is BEFORE you sign the paperwork, not after. In any event, get on that phone NOW and inform the lender of your "new" situation.
