I build 15+ computers per year and use Western Digital hard drives exclusively. They are the most reliable hard drives on the market. When the 1% or 2% do fail I go to: http://support.wdc.com/warranty/index.asp?wdc_lang=en then put in the serial number, explain what is wrong and the RMA is created. They cross ship the drive so I get the new one before sending the old one back. It works very smoothly every time. I believe the issue that this customer ran into is he/she did not follow the normal path for warranty replacements. Instead he/she just called customer service.

Today Was the final Straw In requesting Support for this Hard drive after I called the Basic Support Number (800)275-4932 And was told there would be a 15 minute wait for help. I finally Called WD Corp HQ at (949)672-7000 And waited for the operator I asked to Speak to a Consumer Relations Employee And was Connected. I told this Person My Name and why I was calling and that i requested Support For Their Defective Product. He Took My Information And Promptly told me to throw the 200GB drive away and issued me an Advanced RMA# and said A New 250GB was on its way. When your Normal Support Lines wont help try calling the HQ and asking for a solution to the issue I Am Proud WD Stood Behind their Product And Offered a Replacement.
