Western States Postal Service Barbara Novak, Manager Led to believe I was earning a living doing a legitimate job Los Angeles, California

This company led me to believe that I had finally found a legitimate, home-based job after being out of work for 4 years. This company ushered me into their ranks and hired me to be a Shipping/Receiving Assistant. They told me that I would be paid 36,000 a year and that I was allowed up to $300 in reimbursement for gas and packaging material.
I even signed a W-4 and an I-9 form. They also sent me a letter of appointment to sign and an employment agreement as well. All of these documents I have copies of. I even have the emails that were sent to me when they recruited me to this job.
So around the beginning of February I started receiving packages to ship to people internationally. These packages were supposed to go to Russia and the U.K. I was told that I needed to check the contents of each package and take pictures of these items and upload them to an online account that they assigned to me in which there would be a list of all the packages I would be receiving during the week.
I was told I needed to be up at 9a.m. and would be working until 5p.m. I had to make sure I was present to receive said packages and I had to make sure they were sent out immediately on the same day they were received. I had done all they asked and when I had questions I would report to my manager, Barbara Novak.
I was expected to get a check from them on March 10, 2012 but I haven't received anything and I have since been trying to chat with my manager, Barbara Novak, but she has answered any of my messages. I am really ticked off because I really thought I had a legitimate job and I was planning on renting a house with my first check for me and my wife and four kids.
