I bought a $1200 dryer 19 months ago. The warranty is 12 months. However, the dryer now emits very loud metal-on-metal screeching noises constantly. A look inside the unit shows that the drum is rubbing against the side case of the dryer. The support rollers for the drum are defective and require replacement. Whirlpool wants to send a repair company, which requires a $100 fee just to show-up and tell me what I already know, that the dryer is broken. The fee is on top of the actual parts and labor for the repair. These rollers shouldn't fail for many years, and certainly shouldn't fail after 19 months of light use. Worse, when I called Whirlpool, it took 18 minutes for someone to answer the phone. I will never buy a Whirlpool product or that of any subsidiary, or any company that uses components from Whirlpool and you shouldn't either. When anyone buys a major appliance, they expect it to have some longevity. Whirlpool designs their products to fail, and fails to properly test them to insure trouble-free operation, and then they fail to support that product. They then expect us to pay for the repairs on their inferior garbage products. I'll bet they even wonder why Korean and Chinese products are kicking their collective a**es in the marketplace. It’s not about cutting costs; it’s about cutting costs while maintaining product quality. Wake up fools! Build a quality product and support that product, or die...
