Our wedding ceremony/reception was reserved at Brennan's in midtown Houston for May 2009. In August 2008, I sent William + Patricia Photography(formerly William Long Photography) a check for $1,000, which they promptly cashed. On September 13, 2008, Hurricane Ike hit, damaging my fiancee's home and our wedding site. Her home was deemed 'uninhabitable' and is still under repair and Brennan's burned down.
Not only was she without a home, but we no longer had a wedding site. We decided to elope rather than re-plan a wedding and we informed William + Patricia Photography 2 weeks later, giving them 8 months to rebook the date, and asked for our $1,000 back. They said they didn't have the money to return, so we generously gave them 8 weeks to come up with it, setting December 1, 2008 as the deadline.
They agreed, saying that it was more than enough time to refund the deposit. That date has passed, our money has not been returned, and William + Patricia Photography now say they want yet another extension so they can have more time to pay us back. Since they themselves admit they haven't booked a single new job in 3 1/2 months and their website is rarely updated and has 2 disconnected numbers still listed on it, we have no interest in being forced to wait indefinitely for the money William + Patricia Photography promised to return to us a month ago. We've been left with no choice but to take them to small claims court in order to get back the deposit.
William + Patricia Photography have agreed to refund the deposit

I've been contacted by the owners of the business and they've agreed to refund the full $1000 deposit. The matter has been resolved and this complaint can be disregarded.
