Wonder-Space Camps hired me to work for Wonder Space Camps (www.wonder-space.com) for the Summer of
2012. I thought Wonder-Space camps was a reputable company, but I was wrong.
The company is highly unorganized. They had two summer counselors quite our
first week of training and first week of orientation. I was hired to work as a
Summer Counselor to teach Game Design, How to Build a Computer, and Web Design.
My first week was horrible. The director and marketing manager had me fill in
for a counselor the entire week who quit without giving them notice.
Wonder-Space camps did not even provide the counselors with the information to
know whether or not they had their parents fill out prescription or
non-prescription forms so that the counselors including myself would know
whether or not the children had any allergies or needed to take prescription
medication prescribed by their doctors. Wonder-Space camps treats their summer
counselors like dirt and also attempt to make the summer counselors liable for
their mistakes that they make in the corporate office in Houston, Texas.
The management team at Wonder-Space Camps did not even inform the summer
counselors on whether or not the counselors would have a head counselor or not
in the DC office. Wonder-Space camps management team does not even have the
proper transportation to buy supplies for its summer camp and makes the summer
counselor responsible for driving management team from the corporate
headquarters to buy supplies for the DC camps locations.
Wonder-Space camps provided me with a summer contract for the entire summer
(term employment). Wonder-Space camps breached my summer contract and
wrongfully terminated me without cause. Since, the summer contract provided for
a term, they are responsible for paying me for the entire term. Wonder Space
camps owe over 15k worth of punitive and compensatory damages and will be sued
for unpaid wages in DC METRO AREA (MD). Wonder Space camps are an employment
scam and are not a legitimate based business. Emmie Chang, CEO, Wonder Space
camps called me on the telephone falsely claiming that I owed them an
overpayment after they found out that I applied for unemployment benefits.
Wonder-Space camps will do and say anything to the MD unemployment office to
get out of paying their former employees unemployment benefits. The CEO Emmie
Change at Wonder-Space camps is an illegitimate CEO and she is unscrupulous
along with the marketing management team at Wonder Space camps. This summer
camp should not even be in business. Wonder-Space camps charges its former
employees after they wrongfully terminate their summer counselors unjustifiable
fees to attempt to get out of paying their form summer counselor employees
unemployment benefits and reimburse themselves for the high interest and tax rates
they are charged for paying into the unemployment system.
