on may 10, 2004, i went to woodfield chevrolet and hummer with the intentions of buying a 2-3 thousand dollar vehicle straight up. they ran a credit report, and to my surprise, i was approved for a 1994 jeep grand cherokee, sticker price being 7995.

a little pricey for my budget, but since i have horrible credit, i am thinking about it. i am told by my sales person, chuck fervanti, that this is the only vehicle i am approved for. i take it out for a test drive, which happens to only be one block down, one block to the right, and one block back up to the dealership.

i notice the radio, windows, alarm, horn, system lights, and a few other message center lights, plus the rear hatch all do not work. no problem, chuck will fix me right up. i'm impressed because i also get a an extended warranty. so, i give him my 2000 dollars down, and he gives me a paper saying they owe for the hatch to be fixed.

i asked about the other stuff he promised me, and he says, sorry, can't do anything about that other stuff. ok, my kids are screaming because they are hungry, and i am very happy i just bought my first vehicle.

a few days later, the air conditioner blows. i call chuck, and he says sure, bring it in, we will fix it right up. i pile the kids in and get there and am told i have to pay for it and i have to leave it there. ok, 130 bucks isn't so bad, but i'm stranded with my kids 29 miles away from home. i call and get a ride. before i leave, i mention to the service advisor, don swanson, how the truck makes a really weird grinding noise and jerks a lot when i pull into a parking space. 3 days later, my truck has a/c, and i am told that the problem with the steering is normal in 4 wheel drives. never seen or heard that before.

so a few weeks go by, and my truck overheats. i call and they say they will get me a loaner car while it is being repaired. i take it in on my way to work, and lo and behold, i cannot get a loaner vehicle, but i can rent one with enterprise, but i have no money. they won't let me call long distance this time to get a ride, so i have to walk, in the rain no less, about a mile to the nearest payphone. i miss work. the truck sits there for 3 days before the warranty people come out and look. it gets approved, and i pay my 100 dollar deductible and it gets fixed for a total of almost 800 dollars.

in july, i notice the shifting is a bit weird. i call the dealership, they tell me i can't bring it in til next week. this is on a monday. i say i can't wait i have to work, i've already missed a lot of work because of repairs. they tell me i can take it to another repair shop. so i do and find out the transmission is shot. just great. the warranty people come out and approved for a rebuilt transmission on wednesday, and the total will be 2180 dollars. i pay 180 of that.

the transmission gets fixed by friday, and the warranty people tell me i have to wait until monday to get my truck. while it is there, the owner of the shop tells me all 4 rotors are bad, the exhaust from the muffler back up to the engine is about to fall off, and the rear differential is almost shot. i call the owner of woodfield chevrolet and hummer and ask him what the hell kind of vehicles is he selling. he tells me to bring it in as soon as i get it back and he will get it all fixed for me for free, including the radio, horn, alarm, windows, etc. i take it up there, get a FREE rental car at their expense and a week later, they tell me i have to take it back to the transmission shop to get it fixed because the wiring is in the transmission. i remind him that it wasn't working before i had the trans done. he says he won't do anything til i take it back, which now there is a cable hanging from the transmission that is about 2 inches off the ground that was not there when i got the transmission fixed.

i run a vehicle history report and find the mileage has been reprorted as fraudulent, and it was sold to me as actual mileage. i called a lemon lawyer, but since it has so many miles on it, they won't do anything. this place is the worst place to buy a vehicle from. i would rather ride a bike the rest of my life everywhere than to see someone else get ripped off by them.
