I recently took a job in Wyoming from Indiana and hired Worldwide Van Lines to move my family (wife and 2-year-old son) to join me.  I am also a Marine Corps combat veteran of Afghanistan, and my move was scheduled to take place over Memorial Day weekend.  After a few nice introductory calls from "Steve," my wife was informed we'd be contacted along every step of our move.  That was the last we heard form them.  The day before our move was to take place, a Jamaican driver named "Paul" called and said he'd be there on a Friday at 11am.  Friday came and went, as did Saturday and Sunday. 

After 3 days sitting in an empty house with all her belongings packed in boxes, my wife ended up going to U-Haul and renting a last-minute 26-foot truck.  They gave her a discount after telling them the story with getting blown off by WWVL.  And she packed and moved our house to Wyoming with two dogs, a cat and a 2-year-old all by herself.  After reading several reports on WWVL, which we wish we would have done sooner, we are glad that they DIDN'T show up.  When I finally got a hold of the company on the following Tuesday, they told me they were sorry and that our move had been cancelled because of tornadoes in the midwest the week BEFORE our move. 

A simple phone call would have been nice, but we had NO ONE answer our hundrds of voicemails, calls and texts.  WWVL Customer Service did tell me our $300 deposit was going to be retuned, and we are hoping that actually happens.  This appears to be a company who outsources important family moves to the lowest, nastiest form of low-ball contractors who have not clue one about prompt service and customer relations.  All WWVL testimonials show GLOWING reviews alongside of the most horrible reviews I've ever read about a company, so that's a pretty good indication that 1) half of their movers actually follow through with good service, or 2) someone at the company is planting the other half of these reviews.  I tend to believe the latter.  There is a news story that appeared out of KPHO.com in Phoenix, Arizona in April 2011 at http://www.kpho.com/news/27526519/detail.html  This is a horrific account of one family's dealings with WWVL.  Research your moving company thoroughly, and do NOT go for the cheapest price like we tried to do.  The extra $500 or so is worth it for peace of mind.  If they'll leave a veteran's family hanging out to dry on Memorial Day weekend, you'd better bet they'll do it to you, too.
