In my respective opinion I would not endorse this doctor. I was/and am, on a medication that two past psychiatrists prescribed (whom have since retired) for the last 22 years. My therapist, who I have been seeing for 8.5 years had contacted him back in April of 2017 to see if prescribing said medication would pose a problem for him. She conveyed to me that he said it would not be, and he likewise expressed that to me himself, in the first initial visit. I should also make reference to the verity that my therapist was weary of even referring me to Dr. Li, because he actually took another one of her clients off a medication they were taking for numerous years as well.
At the initial visit, Dr. Li had stated to me (during the 1 hour preliminary consult) that he had “only a few” patients that were on what I was on, and that had been on it for as many years as I had been on it roughly, and he conveyed “that if I ever chose to want to come off that particular medication, he would help me do so.” I never had requested of him to come off said medication though. It wasn’t until he messed up on refills for that medication (because he is overbooked, where you have to wait over an hour or more to see him), that he had an office staff member give me a reduced dosage, because he seemingly didn’t have the time his staff member said, to ascertain the accurate amount I needed.
He then informs me on visit 3, without warning, that NOW he wants me off said medication that I have been taking for over two decades. My therapist had e-mailed him recently stating I felt uncomfortable about this change (as he tells this to me at the very end of the visit…as he is writing the RX’s out, so I had no chance to speak upon it), and to ask him why he “changed his story”, and he again couldn’t respond to my therapist verbally or even via email. He had a receptionist write her saying that “no therapist or patient will tell him what he should do”, yet he’s the same one that not only lied to her, but myself. She told me that she will never refer to him again, she is also from the area, and we both think his ego, and not the patients feelings come into play. If you do see him, you have zero say in what you think works best, because he is the DR. and he will change around a regimen you have had for over two decades. Charges you and your insurance and gets paid KNOWING he is lying to patients and their therapists.
