Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
This company is calling the elderly and using their older age and confusion to get them to pay $447.34 for what they claim is Medicare benefits. They called my 90 year old mother (who has Alzheimer's) and I am not sure from talking to her what urgency they used, but convinced her to give them her checking account information over the phone.

They submitted a check that they drafted (no signature from my mother) to withdraw the money from her bank account. This was discovered when balancing my mother's check book this month.

I called the phone number that was printed on their check (888-778-0073) and was told by the person who answered that they are a third party company that handles the accounts for YR Benefits. This third party company is located in Champlain, NY. They asked for my mom's phone number and they were able to pull up her account. I was told it was a payment for a medical benefits plan, but they would not give me any other information on the product or the company.

I asked that the transaction be canceled and the money returned. I was told the money would be back in her bank account in 21 days (which will be July 4th). I will update the post if this happens, but highly doubt it judging from comments I found regarding the company on other internet scam sites.

My own research on the internet led me to the limited information I could find on the company, which was nothing more than the address posted here. They have no web page. They are not listed with the Better Business Bureau. Internet searches for either "YR Benefits" or "I Been Med" turn up nothing other than scam reports by others who have been hurt. They appear to be non existent, except when dialing for dollars.

This has been a hard lesson to learn when caring for my aging mother. It has caused me to close the checking account and open a new one that she will not be privy to. Also disconnecting her land line and going to a cell phone to stop these phone scams directed at getting money out of her; same as with other unsuspecting seniors. Wonderful world we live in.
