Super Drain Formula c/o Superior Labs & Clinics I received this pamphlet in the mail about a "too good to be true" add, and thought I'd do a little research before taking the plunge. It seemed very convincing compared to all other weight loss promotions! It claims to be different from any other product as the main/active ingredient orthosiphon which causes fat to magically dissolve. I really wanted to make an order immediately! This is what I found out: First, it was stated in the pamphlet about Super Drain Formula that it was completely by chance that Professor Antoine Pothier discovered that the leaves of the Orthosiphon plant would cause the breakdown of the accumulation of fat in fatty tissues and drain them naturally. Then, it was stated that the discovery of Orthosiphon was no accident. Supposedly this Indonesian plant has been used for years to dissolve, drain and eliminate kidney stones. Doctors noticed that the patients using Orthosiphon lost weight almost overnight. It became obvious that this draining action primarily targeted the patients' body fat. Big red flag! Super Drain Formula c/o Superior Labs & Clinics, as well as, Zenith Direct Response Liposvelt, use the exact same mailing address, presumably a post office box, and toll-free number to the call center for order inquiries. It is a large call center, and handles all kinds of mail order products: 210 Park Avenue PMB# 423 Worcester, MA 01609-2246 1-866-268-5671 While googling "Super Drain Formula c/o Superior Labs & Clinics" I couldn't find any direct claims or investigations stating that specific product is a scam, perhaps because the name is too new. However, I took a look at the website for Rainbow Investigations, showing that the main ingredient orthosiphon is found in other products such as Super Drain Formula, Supravelte Drops, Power Drain 111, and presumably Liposvelt, since it's the same address and phone number. There are many other product names. Supravelte Drops was investigated and labeled as a scam. According to Rainbow Investigations, Orthosiphon is a plant species and is sometimes referred to as "cat's whiskers". There is some traditional use of this product as a diuretic; there is no scientific information about its legitimate use as a weight loss product. Here is a post with an answer that I found about fat drainers with orthosiphon as the main ingredient: Question - Searching for a product called 'Power Drain 111" natural fat-draining agent of "Orthosiphon" from Indonesia, this is suppose to melt fat from your body and is being sold by Fundamental Laboratories Lausanne, Switzerland. Will it really siphon out fat from the body? will it be too effective? Answer - If it is like other products of its kind it will prevent fats and oils from being absorbed by your gut into your body's circulation. This is not the best way to lose weight since this approach does not change eating or exercise habits and even more alarming is that it prevents the absorption of some vitamins and other nutrients that come with lipids (fats and oils). Nope, it is too good to be true. Biochemically those "fat-melting" products do not make any sense. Fat is your body's storage of broken-down sugar and carbohydrates. The only 2 ways to get rid of fat (besides surgically) are (1) to limit your intake of sugar & carbs so your body has to rely on its own storage and (2) to exercise so your body needs more energy and gets it from the fat (if it's not getting energy from the sugars & carbs in your diet). Christine Ticknor, Ph.D. Case Western Reserve University How To Spot A Diet Fraud Scam - Some Tip-Off's to Weight Loss Rip-Offs Full page ads that the person lost more than 40 lbs in a short period of time without dieting - sounds too good to be true, and it is! Weight loss that is effective, and permanent must be multi-faceted, and gradual loss over a period of time is the best. All responsible weight loss programs must burn off more than one takes in so there must be a diet modification aspect. Claims that the product works by a secret formula, or the ad does not describe the ingredients are usually fraudulent- legitimate scientists share their knowledge for peer review. The promotion operates by mail order, and the address is a mailbox location - legitimate products have a manufacturing plant, or an importing legal agent, which is inspected by regulators, and is not a secret. How do you tell if the address is a mailbox place? Type in the address into the Google search engine. If several addresses come up at the same address, we are probably dealing with a mailbox. Call one of the businesses to confirm the address is a mailbox. Note - there never has been a legitimate weight loss product marketed by mail order in Canada or the U.S. Questionable testimonials by people who have never been obese, or may be paid models, simply do not exist - Ordinary people who have lost weight don't look as good as some of these models. The phone number is an 800 number which goes to a call centre to simply take orders. If you can't directly talk to the company people in charge of the product, we are dealing with a scam. The program is not an on-going treatment program, but rather a one - shot treatment (i.e. some hypnosis programs) - All the evidence indicates that effective weight loss programs are multi-faceted, and on-going.
