This Rip-Off is on behalf of a friend who used my computer to check on his credit history. He settled on FreeCreditReport.com, and I did print the agreement for him. I admit, I will go into the bathroom and read over an agreement but many people do not; and my friend is one of them.

Today he called me and told me about this bogus charge on his Checkings Account (debit card!) that came at the most unfortunate time for him. He said his bank did not have a telephone number for the company and he said he exhausted other attempts, such as 800 Directory. I asked him for the name of the company and he said C I C Credit Monitoring. Having DSL I immediately went to my computer and keyed in the name of this copany. The Rip-Off Report was the first listed on the Search Engine. "Uh-Oh" I excaimed, not liking the what I was seeing for the description of the site. I read the first report about CIC Credit Monitoring. My friend had said they deducted $80.00 but after reading the first report I asked more specifically if CIC deducted $79.95 and he confirmed that exact amount.

I conferenced 1888.888.8553 (CIC Credit Monitoring) and my friend (Eric) spoke to a gentleman at extension 1357 named Everette. Everette requested informatio such as Eric's name, debit card number, mother maiden name, and address and explained to Eric that he should recieve his refund in 7-10 business days. Today is July 5, 2003 (and thank goodness CIC is open on weekends). Just like another gentleman who reported CIC Credit Monitoring on this site, I will keep reporting until I know the situation is resolved.

Until then: REMEMBER TO READ THE FINE PRINT!!!!!!!

Lisa, I'm not calling anyone a moron, that would be assinine; I don't know you. Honestly though, if you want a credit report go to the source. My original message was merely a shock at what I found and was not intended to be verbally abusive. Obviously, you got taken in for their "promise to remove you" and they did not. If YOU read through all the messages, YOU would find out there are people out there who did not read every fine print. Would I categorize them as morons? Abosolutely not! However, you I will.

#3Consumer Suggestion

Mon, July 07, 2003

Ernest, If you read through ALL of the complaints here you will see that many DID READ THE FINE PRINT. I cancelled on the 21st day of my 30 Free trial period. They did not process my cancellation until the 31st day. They deliberately hold cancellations until after the trial is up. Some people have cancelled several days later and were still billed a month later. Thanks for the advice but many of us are not morons.
