Hi, I used to work for express scripts for 2 years. If you want name brand on certain meds then have your dr put on the RX Brand Only. Make sure they put in your records at the dr office as well on that certain RX brand only. Because your insurance and express scipts both want you to take generic. It saves you money and them money plain and simple. And even if you have brand only on the RX express scripts will call the dr to see if you can take a lower cost medication its in the contract with your insurance company and express scipts that their pharmacist have to call. Now if you want brand be prepared you might be charged a fee the difference in th price of your brand med and the generic drug.. This is not express scripts fault if this charge is in place though your insurance because express scripts dont write your benefits your insurance does. Express scripts is not your insurance but just a pharmacy benefits manager. They just manage your benefits do not make them that is your insurance company or employer that does that. There is a lot of things I dont agree with express scripts but this one is clearly not their fault.
