On the phone with Freys Auto, they agree to install my provided used gas tank & fuel pump moduel for about $160. I then had my car towed into them that night.

I go to the shop the first day my car is there and the same guy I spoke with on the phone is being a total jerk to me about how they will not warranty the work they do because my parts are used, so he wants me to sign a waiver. I refused to sign the waiver and called Friendly Chevrolet to have my brand new parts delievered the following morning. The man behind the counter says "well, if you have a connection at Friendly Chev you might as well order up 4 fuel injectors, a fuel rail" and so on. I told him I can't afford that and refused to order anything until we knew my car needed it. In the end they called all my parts delivered directly to them from the dealership "customer part - no warranty"

50 miles past thier mechanics warranty my motor has blown up.

My bill has parts I had to pay for but no labor for those parts, labor billed for installing parts that were never purchased, and they replaced parts that were brand new on my car w/o my consent. My $160.00 estimate ended up to be over $1,700.00, this is for labor. I paid for my parts seperatly.

Freys told me they will not warranty my used parts. Provided I buy new parts, I don't need to sign a waiver because they will warranty thier LABOR. They also order thier parts from Friendly Chev, as they ordered my parts from there but I paid the dealership cash same day because I have a relative that works there. Freys said they wanted to fix my car after I clearly stated "I will be providing my parts" before I had the car towed there. THEY CLEARLY MADE A PROFIT OFF ME! I also paid for headgasket set spark plugs and other unnessesary replacement parts through them. When you make a deal with a customer and fail to live up to your end its BAD BUSSINESS, not under educated consumers.

The people in this country really need to go to school and get an education. Again, I will teach you all how business works. If the repair facility does NOT provide ALL of the parts required for a repair, there is NO warranty. This is because the shop has no quality control over trhe entire repair. If you go to a restaurant with a steak and some vegetables, they will NOT even attempt to cook them for you. If you have a house built and decide to show up with your own lumber and building supplies, the contractor will tell you NO. Go to the Hospital and tell them you brought your own stuff for the surgeon to use. See how that goes. But, everyone thinks it is perfectly normal to bring their own parts to a mechanic. I have customers that do this and I still do the work for them. They know though that I am not responsible for anything and if the car breaks down as it leaves the lot, oh well. I had a guy once bring me a clutch kit for his Mustang. He bought it at the Zone. I told him it was junk. He paid me to R/R the set and I did. It wouldn't pull itself off the rack. I then got one from NAPA and the car is still driving today on it. The only difference was price and quality. NAPA doesn't charge twice as much because they want to make more profit. They do it because the parts are WORTH more. Just because the parts were delivered to the shop doesn't mean he is responsible for them. YOU ordered them and in doing so, PROVIDED them because you didn't want the shop owner to mark them up and make a PROFIT on them. That profit is what pays for warranty repairs. Since you didn't care if he made a profit, why should he care about giving you anything? Labor pays for labor, parts mark-up pays for everything else. Here's a newsflash for everyone. The grocer, the clothier, everyone marks up the product before selling it to you. The company YOU work for does this too. That is how YOU get a paycheck. Even the dealership and the part stores do it. And yet, for some reason, you fault the guy who makes it possible for you to drive your car for trying to make a buck. Tsk tsk.
