Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I have been ripped off by Steve Duliga, a salesmen/tech out of The Scottsdale Arizona office of Future Technology.

I met Steve while in Best Buy. I had originally taken a laptop to the Geek Squad to see if they could repair it. They said it was most likely the motherboard and would cost about the same to buy a new one as to repair mine. I went into the computer section of the store to look at laptops. That's where I met Steve. Later, while I was in another section of the store, Steve tracked me down at the end of an isle and slipped me his card, and said to call him. That made me a little uncomfortable, but 2 weeks later, after pricing new laptops, I figured I would give him a shot. I checked out your website and figured you were legit. So I gambled and gave him a call. Seems I lost.

Steve described your services and costs to me as follows (paraphrasing): "The diagnostic is no charge and I'll call you with an estimate once we find the problem. Or we can just retrieve the data off the hard drive for $60." That was it. That's what he told me, that's what I wrote down.

He found that the motherboard was bad and came up with some prices to swap it out. Steve quoted me $260 to replace the motherboard. I chose to decline having the motherboard replaced and opted rather for getting the data off the hard drive for Steve's quoted $60.

He returned the laptop to me and demanded $180.

I spoke to him at least half a dozen times concerning transfering the data. He did not want to transfer the data onto DVD's since it would take too many. He came to my house and I gave him and external hard drive to transfer the data to. AT NO TIME did he tell me that this was NOT going to cost $60 as quoted, but rather $180!

He made excuses like "there's a difference between restoring the data and transfering the data", and "well, it would have been $60 if it were only 5-6 GB of data...". THE PROBLEM IS THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME HE EVER MENTIONED ANY OF THAT TO ME, AS HE WAS STANDING THERE ASKING FOR A CHECK. This is not how you do business. This is not how you maintain customers and foster repeat business.

He "cut me a break" and knocked $60 off the bill making it $120. He knew I was pissed, but I cut him the check. I did not put a stop payment on the check because I don't do things that way. But I did report his actions to the corporate office and asked for a refund of $60, so that I would end up having spent exactly what he quoted me.

Brian Hughes, the Regional/District Manager at Future Technology said he would investigate the matter. A month later, this is the email I received:

"After our thorough and completed Investigation in this matter we're pleased to inform you of the Following actions taken from your concerns..

"After Viewing back on other WORK ORDER Forms from the Phoenix Office for the past 2 years, It Appears that out of the 3 customers Declining further Repairs on systems your the only one that didn't pay this Fee charge for Diagnostic...

"Although you were to be charged $150.00 for Diagnostic done on your system, and $180 (minus)-$60.00 for Data Recovery (not to be confused with data transfer) as per copy of Price List was sent to you.

"Total Amount: $210.00 you were not charged for. Will be Deducted from Steve's Paycheck..

"The Work Order Form we emailed you as we also have on file DOES NOT Show any Quote of $60.00 for your statement made herein, therefor we will not refund you any money, since your Outstanding Balance is $210.00."

Aside from the 3rd grade grammar (I copied and pasted his email), I apparently owe THEM money. What unmitigated crap! They sent me a price list AFTER I complained about being ripped off. The work order did not show a quote of $60 because Steve Duliga did not write it on the work order.

I spent a month going back and forth with this company and have received no satisfaction. I told them that I would come to this site and report, but apparently they could care less. It's not about 3- $20 bills; it's about business ethics, of which this company and its reps have none.
